A great all around how-to book,
This review is from: Scrapbook Tips & Techniques : Over 700 Scraptbook Pages & Tips (Leisure Arts) (Paperback)
I am a scrapbook aficionado and dabbler in artistic expression (ie right brain stuff) to counterpose my life as a science teacher (ie left brain stuff). And I like books- lots of them- including ones on creative enterprises. This is a great book for two main reasons:A. It has lots of tips and techniques (duh- the title!!) on the nitty gritty how-tos of scrapbooking. And not just mundane matters- but more artsy interpretations. B. There are lots of nice photos of finished pages you can try yourself. I am more of a "see it and adapt it" type of gal when it comes to scrapping, so I like the pictures. It's worth the money when you consider the price and the rather hefty number of pages it has. Other books are more expensive and don't have even a quarter of the amount of info this one has. Buy it.

Of the many scrapbook/craft books I have purchased (or looked through in the bookstores) over the years, this is my absolute favorite. There are hundreds of beautiful pictures, as well as design techniques, that truly inspire and make you eager to scrapbook. It's also great for finding numerous alternative ways to use supplies I already own. You'll be reaching for this book quite often. Highly recommended!!!

This book has a lot of great ideas for the tools and materials that I already have. It's much more than just LO samples (though it has tons of those) - it contains a tremendous selection of "how-to's". I'm really glad I purchased it.

I have never been so impressed with a scrapbooking book. This one is fabulous for all levels from the beginner to the scrapbookers that have been doing it for years ... I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed this book and it is ONE THAT I WILL BE THUMBING THROUGH AND READING FOR YEARS TO COME I AM SURE ... I truly don't believe you would be disappointed if you bought it ... it is going in my (soon to be) new scrap room sitting on a very visual shelf so I can grab it whenever I want.

Okay, I am an avid scrapbooker who is always on the lookout for new ideas. I loved this book! It detailed some uses for everyday scrapbooking items that have helped me tremendously and it also gives easy ideas to enhance my style. I have this book along with many other scrapbooking tip books, but this is one of my favorites!

A treasury of scrapbook ideas,

One of the best books ever written on scrapbooking. It offers lots of great ideas on how to make perfect scrapbook pages, introduces very creative techniques and gives very helpful advices (starting from basic things, like how to use chalks, up to advanced techniques, like printing your photos on canvas or arranging plenty of photos on a limited space). One can find there beautiful layouts, designer's sketches, and various tips and techniques that will never become outdated.

I picked this book up when I first started scrapping. I have to say it was a bit overwhelming at first. However once I sat down and went through it page by page I really was pleased with my purchase! It has interesting pages, great layouts(especially the "your photos three ways")and the "how to" on the techniques were easy to follow. I have since purchased several more of the Creating Keepsakes books and have loved every one of them. A must have for a beginner!

The first third or so of this book is all sorts of little tips and tricks for making simple and standard techniques more unusual and making better use of your supplies. I was very pleased with it. Nothing truly ground breaking, but lots of nifty little things to do.

I love this book. I have several Keepsake books and they are all wonderful but this is one of my favorites. Lots of tips, techniques, etc. Great for beginners like myself.

Not really a book for beginners...,

I picked this book up yesterday at Target for around $15.00. It is the first that I have seen like it...I am someone who likes to know what they are getting into before they go full hog into something. I figured this book would help me get some great ideas on how to use different techniques. I don't suggest this book for beginners. I think it would be too easy to get over-whlemed by it, as I found it to be a lot to digest, even in a few quick sittings. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of visual aids the books has. I learn by watching or seeing step-by-step diagrams, particularly with things I know nothing about, like wet embossing, using chalks and inks. I found it somewhat lacking for someone who knows nothing about these things. I also found their explaination of actual products used to be lacking. They listed name brand products, but not what they actually did or a generic name for them, making it a bit more confusing for a beginner like myself. For the more advanced scrapbooker, I think this might be a kind of "been there, done that" kind of book, with a few tips that may be helpful. It was neat to see the three different takes on layouts and on photo choices and it was nice to see the different ways you can play wiht these things. A bit challenging for the beginner, good for the advanced, not really needed for the intermediate and expert scrapbookers. |
