About the Author

Claudine Hellmuth is no stranger to the paper crafts and scrapbooking industry. She is the author of the best-selling Collage Discovery Workshop and Collage Discovery Workshop: Beyond the Unexpected. More About the Author

Claudine Hellmuth is a nationally recognized collage artist, author and illustrator. She combines photos, paint, paper and pen into quirky, whimsical-retro collages that she calls Poppets'.

Her artworks have been featured on The Martha Stewart Show, in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine, on HGTV's "I Want That!" and on the DIY Network's program, "Craft Lab."

In addition to creating her artwork full-time, Claudine teaches collage workshops in the US & Canada, and she has written 2 books about her techniques, "Collage Discovery Workshop" and "Collage Discovery Workshop: Beyond the Unexpected." She has also produced three instructional DVD workshops.

Claudine's studio and home are in Washington DC, where she lives with her husband, Paul and their very spoiled pets - Toby the wonder dog and Mable & Stanley the cats.

I was so disappointed when I finally received this in the mail. I have Claudine's 2 previous books on collage discovery workshops and would have rated each a 6 stars, but this really let me down. To be frank, I felt it was heavy on gimmics and packaging and light on content. Sure, the little cards were cute, but she could just as easily have had a couple pages in the back of a normal-sized book that gave you all the prompt words. And, frankly I wasn't impressed with the pages done by the other artists. I guess that's a backhanded compliment to Claudine. What I thought I was going to get when I ordered the book was more advice and examples of HER work. Come on, Claudine, you took the easy way out on this one!

Great book of ideas with prompt cards for color and scheme ideas. Love the kit; love the ideas that flooded by creative side. Great resource!

I wasn't totally sure what to expect from this book, but I found myself very satisfied when it arrived last week.

The book is small (about 6x6) and is full of scrapbook ideas from some fabulously free, messy, wildly creative artists. Note that while Claudine is the author, most of the layouts are NOT by her. This is a totally different direction than her previous books - still completely wonderful. Just different.

I would not recommend this book to a beginning scrapbooker, however anyone who is into this wonderful hobby and is looking for a new source of fun inspiration will surely enjoy the ideas and cards contained in this. The bright colors, funky layouts, and formulas (like play + cyan + purple) are fabulous!

Sitting on my desk where I can reach it, and just waiting for me to be stuck so I can use the cards is where my copy will be. :)
