Events and memories are what scrapbooking is all about--and Americans waxing nostalgic accounts for this craft's increasing popularity. Carter's focus on babies, then, is a natural, though she does include occasional pregnancy moments and any number of props in this 128-page gallery. General instructions center on a few techniques, with an emphasis on good photographic methods. After that, she depends on the five chapters to build on each other and showcase ideas and tips. Chapter 1 starts simply, and then the second through the fifth add on media, layers, and a few three-dimensional tricks. Most impressive, though, are the elegant layouts, with information about main papers, supplies, and a few working details. Easy to emulate; most pages will evoke oohs, aahs, and aren't-they-cute comments. To scrapbook could be divine. Barbara JacobsCopyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved
