lots of ideas,
This review is from: Scrapbooking Your Favorite Family Memories (Hardcover)
I am very happy with this book-- It doesn't have a lot of step by step instructions but I got some great ideas by just looking through it. Really cool ideas for ways to cut the pictures themselves, titles, layouts, etc. Not something that will teach you new techniques but if you are wanting something to spice up what you already know without being terribly time involving then you will enjoy this book.

my favorite how-to scrapbooking book,

I'm pretty picky when it comes to scrapbooking how to books - it always seem they're either TOO BASIC or unpractical, too contemporary, or don't have enough pictures, or don't have enough instruction. This is the the PERFECT book I've found that can work well for anyone's needs.
I have literally found HUNDREDS of ideas just from looking off the examples in this book. I LOVE IT!!!! I think this book has so much variety it could fit anyone's needs. I have had it for over 4 years from the time I was a beginner scrapper to now more experienced and I STILL find myself going back to it for reference and collecting NEW IDEAS even 4 years later! I definitely recommend it! I wish I knew if these authors had created any other scrapbooking books!

This is a great idea generator for scrapbookers. Nothing is too fancy or involved - just great "anyone can do this" page ideas. Loved it. Gave one as a gift also.

Fantastic original ideas,
This review is from: Scrapbooking Your Favorite Family Memories (Hardcover)
This is the best scrapbooking book that I have ever seen. This huge book is packed with loads and loads of original and very creative ideas. I love all the trick photography ideas, lessons on when to crop and when not to, as well as a LOT of information of journalism. It is an incredible book and probably the only scrapbooking book you will need. Highly recommended.

IDEAS GALORE!!,

About the only negative thing about this book in my mind is the size--500+ pp!! That makes it pretty heavy! But the weight can be forgiven by the sheer wealth of innovative ideas it contains. I was in Scrapbookers' Heaven (bordering on overload) just going through them all. The book seems to be a compilation of several smaller ones--at one great price. First off, I would disagree with those feedbackers who say that there aren't any instructions. True, instructions are skimpy in the page idea sections, but there are plenty of "How to's" in the earlier sections on Scrapping.
It starts out with a section on the history of scrapbooking going back as far as 1595 & 1709 with Common-Place Books, & as a history nut as well as someone who loves the traditional connection that crafts often have, this really set a tone for me--made me feel that what I'm doing IS important. The next pp follow up with an update on Scrapbooking today & why we scrap. The next section deals with what I think is a better-than-average Tools & Supplies section--including every day tools you may already have around the house plus the different types of albums & their pros & cons. Rather than just a list of items, it TELLS you how to use tools such as stickers, punches, stamps, templates, cutting tools & even die cuts. (So often I've seen a tool or embellishment & wish I could see examples of how to use it.) At the end is a checklist that you can scan & take with you to the store or internet. The book goes on to give some good ideas on storing & sorting photos safely, different places to get photos (ask relatives for vintage photos!), a few tips on taking better photos, selecting paper colors, cropping--I LOVE some of their cropping ideas. Pretty much every conceivable type of scrapbook subject is in here. (No pets though! A Disappointment) A whole section follows with ideas on Journaling with a list of descriptive adjectives to use. After that it is just idea after idea after wonderful idea to make a scrappers heart beat a little faster & the mind go whirling. (YES! Why didn't I think of that?) Family, Baby, School Days--What to do with all those little photos your kids come home with from Photo Day each year that you stuck in a drawer or box somewhere. In fact, I'd say there is quite a LOT on children & babies in here. One other little negative--Any book should have an Index!! This doesn't, & I wish it did. I would still HIGHLY recommend this book for any Scrap-Addicts out there. You won't be sorry. In fact, I would recommend all the Memory Makers books out there.

The book is basically as described by others. But the full color makes this a nice book, event tho there isnt alot if any instructions. I think that most scrapbookers can figure it out from the pages. There is a ton of pages 508 to admire. I am a beginner, but I basically bought it for my daughter in laws & other than the book not being in the new condition it was supposed to be, it is a very nice book! THE SELLER SAID THIS BOOK WAS IN NEW CONDITION. BUT SINCE THE BINDING IS COMPLETELY APART AND INSIDE COVER APART, THIS IS FALSE AND MISLEADING. NO WAY TO COMMENT ON THE SELLER (ANGOFL) I WOULD BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. ..

I have just started scrapbooking....I ordered two other books from Amazon and this book to me is the best!! It lists materials needed, how to use them..goes over punches, templetes and journaling. There are plenty of ideas with nice colored pictures. The book is HUGE!! This would be the book if I had chosen just one.....Definetely worth the monney!!

It was not what I had expected from this huge book! It is more of a picture book. There are no instructions of how a scrapbook page was completed. You can look at the pictures and get ideas of how you might want to do your own page. I wasn't impressed with this huge book.
