5.0 out of 5 stars a MUST for your Scrapbooking library!
This is one the most informative & well written books I have come across. It has excellent instructions and photographs that guide the beginner scrapbooker through the step by step process of creating well designed and decorated pages. Each project is related to the next, so the reader is always refering to the previous lesson. Ms.Carter is a gifted artist and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Refer to ......
This is a good book for beginners in that it covers all the basics without getting too fancy. It covers techniques such as using decorative edge scissors, corner and craft punches, how to use die-cuts and creative lettering, rubber stamps and embossing. My only BIG complaint is that it is always refering to another technique on another page, so I constantly have to flip...

I just got this book, and it is exactly what I've been looking for. All in color, it gives succinct explanations of scrapbooking techniques such as matting. I know I will refer to this one again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars New ideas for new and longtime scrapbookers, February 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had borrowed this book from the library. I am always looking for new and different ways to do scrapbooking. What I liked about this book was the fact that they walked you through the basics and had different techniques I hadn't used before.Although I have been scrapbooking for several years, I had not taken any classes to show me how. This book is good for beginnings and for others who have done scrapbooking for years. Just the illustrations of the layouts are worth the money for this book. I liked it so much that I gave my daughter one for a gift too. I really think it is worth buying. Although I first borrowed it from the public library, I realized it was that good that I wanted my own copy.

It covers techniques such as using decorative edge scissors, corner and craft punches, how to use die-cuts and creative lettering, rubber stamps and embossing. My only BIG complaint is that it is always refering to another technique on another page, so I constantly have to flip back and forth. For example, in Technique 9 (how to use die-cuts, the first 3 steps refer to other techniques. Aggravating! Otherwise, good book for BEGINNERS!

2.0 out of 5 stars For beginners or those in need of creative assistance only.., February 2, 2005
This review is from: Scrapbooking for the first time (Hardcover)
I just started scrapbooking a month ago, although I have an extensive background in art. I picked up this book thinking I would get a lot of ideas and tips that would help me add pizazz to my pages.

All of the ideas presented in this book were things I had already come up with on my own. I was very disapppointed in this book, because when I'd thumbed through it in the store, I really liked the page layout style they'd used in the examples, but the tips and theory behind them were too simple for me. I took it back and exchanged it for "Mastering Scrapbook Page Design" by Michelle Gerbrandt, which is a much better resource for anyone from a beginner to an experienced scrapper.

3.0 out of 5 stars To simple for my tastes, February 13, 2005
This review is from: Scrapbooking for the first time (Hardcover)
As someone who has been scrapbooking for several years I find this book plain with only a few good ideas. It may be because I learn towards scrapbooking with a more elegant/tradional style rather then the cutesy style with die-cuts, etc.

Though this book is not the best for me it may be a good book for a beginner who wishes to get into scrapbooking. You might want to give it a try but check it out of your library then invest in it if you like it that much.
