4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing series, poor release., February 24, 2006

This review is from: Scrapped Princess, Vol. 5 - Prophesies and Parents (DVD)
As much as I like Bandai I can't stop to wonder what is happening to them lately. The Scrapped Princess DVDs have no inserts, some misspelling on the subtitles, problems with the transfer and no extras other than the figures on the special editon of the series.

I highly recommend the series. However, if you like the extras that usually come in other animes you won't find any here.

5.0 out of 5 stars DO I WANT TO REMEMBER I'M SCRAPPED?, January 16, 2006
This review is from: Scrapped Princess, Vol. 5 - Prophesies and Parents (DVD)
The Scrapped Princess is still suffering from amnesia and going by the name of Pamela and continuing to live in domestic bliss with Furet in the capital. Her family and friends aren't in bliss though. Shannon, tailed by a Peacemaker, desperately searches for her, not knowing that his sister Raquel has already found Pacifica, and is allowing her to live out her dream of a normal life. But how long can this go on before the Royal Forces catch up to her? And what do the Royal Forces really want with her now? Do they still want to kill her, or is she now a bargaining chip to use in a war to conquer the world?

When you look at the back of this dvd and see episode titles using words like "elegy", "fleeting", "Mother's sorrow", and "collapse", you know a happy time is not going to be had for all. The episodes on this fifth volume more than live up to that hype, with emotional and heart-wrenching results. Pacifica's amnesia is merely the calm before the storm. Hopefully, our heroes will win out over the forces that have enslaved humanity.
Great characters, and a constantly surprising plot will keep you on edge and hold you in suspense for the last volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short & sweet 2, July 30, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've reviewed Travelling Troubles (Vol 3) box and my comments there largely apply here re the packaging. The only reason I bought these boxes (having already watched the Collection of DVDs)is because of the high regard I have for this program.
Two figurines here would seem better value for money compared to Pacifica of Vol 3, all being the same scale. Detail quality and workmanship is high. Raquel in this scale looks 'normally' proportioned compared to the larger version in Vol 6 where her legs grow to 2/3 her height! Raquel has no moving parts; Cizs head turns and oddly, she has an alternate right arm (to lose). Both have a square plinth to stand on.
Scrapped Princess deserves more than just the DVDs sitting on the shelf after watching it, this series of figurines are worthy momentos to have on display.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Noose Tightens, November 27, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Scrapped Princess, Vol. 5 - Prophesies and Parents (DVD)
Pacifica begins this dvd without her memory, and much happier as a result. But this girl can't avoid her birthrite as her new existence is shattered, and a friend is lost. She is then captured, and we meet her real parents, and watch as the Peacemakers set in motion their plan to punish humanity for daring to challenge god.
This series is loaded with suspense and surprising twists, which makes it an excellent diversion. The animation is always well done, and the soundtrack is superb. I think I should warn you giant robot fans, you're missing out on a good one here.
