Philly-based COLLECTABLES RECORDS was founded by Jerry Greene. He also owns ALPHA VIDEO.

Collectables' edition of SCREAM ON SOMEONE YOU LOVE TODAY or How To Become A Better Person By Opening Your Mouth And Telling The Whole World Where To Get Off! is an exact repro of a VERVE blue label comedy LP recorded 4/18/67 that was available in both mono and stereo (V/V6-15086).

This aural recreation of the humorous aspects of burlesque includes rapidfire blackout sketches and songs. One track ("Zingers") manages to combine the two. 'Fat' Jack Leonard (birth name Leonard Lebitsky) appears in side profile on the album's cover to proudly show off his slimmed-down body.

Stand-up comic Leonard, whose trademarks were a too-small suit and Panama hat with the brim snapped all around, was a club comic who labored in obscurity for many years until he came to national prominence in the late 1950s on Jack Paar's Tonight Show. Jack's other recordings include "Rock and Roll For Kids Over Sixteen" (1957) and "How To Lose Weight With Fat Jack" (1964).

In May of 1973, Jack E. collapsed on a NY club stage and died soon after from complications of heart surgery. He was 63 years old.

SCREAM ON SOMEONE etc. also features Mr. Frank Gallop (announcer) and Carol Corbett, Anthony Holland, Len Maxwell, Bob McFadden, Bryna Raeburn and Betty Walker.

Haven't heard this "boffo" album in at least 30 years, yet I can still quote segments of it. Example:

From ENFORCERS OF THE LAW.

Mr. Frank Gallop: "Caught by the State Trooper."

Sound of heavy rain, a siren and a car squealing to a halt.

Cop: "Alright, pull over, pull over! (pause as rain continues) You were hitting 65 back there on that curve. I don't know how you kept the car on the road in this pouring rain.... It was all I could do to keep up with you on my motorcycle. Now, let me see your driver's license."

Fat Jack: "I don't have it."

Cop: "Well, how about the car registration?"

Fat Jack: "I lost it!"

Cop: "You'd better show me SOME form of identification!"

Fat Jack: "I haven't any!"

Cop: "Hey buddy, you're pretty STUPID, aren'tcha?"

Fat Jack: "I'm not standing out there in the rain am I? (blackout)

3.0 out of 5 stars A little bit tame, but still a good comedy album, May 5, 2002

This is more of a Radio Musical, than a real Stand-Up comedy album. Still it stars Jack E. Leonard, the original master of the insult. While Don Rickles took it to an entire new level in the late 1960's, Leonard had the same idea and in this musical, we get a bunch of situations of when it would be a proper time to insult somebody that is getting on your nerves. From your boss, to your wife, to just the everyday person you might happen to meet. Leonard insults them all with basic insulting humor, which might even be considered "cheesy" to some. However, for me, it was funny.

I didn't even know who Jack E. Leonard was until my father told me about him. This album really isn't that outstanding, but if you like old style "Jackie Gleason" type humor, with a twist of "insult comedy" - then this album might be what you are looking for.
