5.0 out of 5 stars Tokio Hotel - German/English, it's all the same
I have both the English version of this cd and all of the songs in German, and I would just like to say that I am so glad that they came out with English. While I do love the German, sometimes it is nice to know what they're saying. Since Bill, Tom, and company helped to translate this cd themselves, I feel like it's still the same old Tokio Hotel, just in English. It...

3.0 out of 5 stars Teens Scream
The USA debut of German Teenaged phenomenon Tokio Hotel is an interesting set. Like so many German bands before them (think Scorpions), they had to be taught the lyrics in phonetic English. It does lessen the impact from the singing, but lead vocalist Bill Kaulitz knows his way around a good yelp. He also knows his way around a box of guyliner, enough so that the pictures...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tokio Hotel - German/English, it's all the same, June 19, 2008

It really was worth it to buy the English, the slight changes in translation are interesting and it is obvious that they put some time into it. I would highly reccomend this cd to anyone who loves Tokio Hotel and people who also like it when a rock band doesn't say the F word every five seconds. A great CD and a great investment! I love this thing!

its defiantly different hearing it in english. I enjoyed the CD but I absolutely love the German version of all of these songs! If you're a huge fan you should have this CD. For the people who have not hear of this band or songs by them give them a listen! They have so much talent and their music is really good for a rock band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bill Kaulitz brings it in English too!, June 22, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Tokio Hotel recorded some of their songs in English because they wanted to share their lyrics with others who might not know German... they wanted to be sure that the meaning of their songs was correctly translated. That is what this album is.

It's fantastic.

Anyone who thinks they do not like Tokio Hotel? If they hear Sacred or By Your Side is sure to be hooked

5.0 out of 5 stars Tokio Hotel's debut English album, July 3, 2008
This review is from: Scream (Audio CD)
Tokio Hotel has sold more albums in Germany alone than The Beatles during their time. They are extremely popular in Europe, definitely THE most popular international band, and are now making their debut in America. This CD is a mixture of their first and second German albums, translated into English. Their sound is compatible with American rock music, and the translations keep the essence of each song well. If you are into clean rock music, I would strongly suggest Tokio Hotel.

1. Scream - 9/10. A rebellious rock-punk song about your opinions being heard. A great song (especially live), but is one of their earlier songs, and thus not as musically complicated as their later ones.

2. Ready Set Go - 10/10. Another rebellious rock anthem. The music is more intricate than Scream, and very catchy and motivating.

3. Monsoon - 20/10. The song that put them on the map. A beautiful power-ballad that anyone can enjoy, and lyrics that will make you melt.

4. Love Is Dead - 10/10. Everyone I know loves this song. Very Romeo and Juliet-esque.

5. Don't Jump - 8.5/10 - I give this an 8.5, but most people I know are very touched by this song, and consider it their favorite Tokio Hotel song. It is about suicide, and finding enough hope not to do it.

6. Live Every Second - 10/10. An extra track. Very catchy and fun to listen to, and sounds even better in English than in German.

7. On The Edge - 10/10. Great song about the negative effects of drugs.

8. Sacred - 9/10. A softer song about ending a love relationship, but still feeling as though that person is special to you. Very pretty.

9. Break Away - 7.5 or 8/10. In English, it is lyrically their weakest song in my opinion. The guitar riff is catchy, but the words sound awkward in English, because, for some reason, the singer's accent is detectable in this song. Still enjoyable, though.

10. Rescue Me - 8/10. A song about being left and betrayed by someone you loved. Some of the emotion seems lost in the translation to English. The German version, however, is one of their strongest snd most powerful songs.

11. Final Day - 8.5/10. Good song.

12. Forgotten Children - 9/10. An emotional song about children who have been abandoned and without homes.

13. By Your Side - 9/10. Beautiful.

14. 1000 Oceans - 20/10. ADDICTIVE. Great, great song. A bonus track.

15. Durch Den Monsun - 10/10. Bonus track. This is the original, German version of the song 'Monsoon'. It is the version the band did when they first became famous, which means that they were younger, which means that the lead singer's voice hadn't fully developed by this time. The singing is good, but he has a high voice than the rest of the album. This is no drawback, and gives a taste of what their German songs sound like.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this album. This is rock music anyone can enjoy, with very personal, emotional songs that you can easily get addicted to. Tokio Hotel has completely taken over Europe in a matter of years, and is on their way to taking over America. If you are looking for something a little new and fresh, pick up this album NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible transposition from German to English....FLAWLESS!, August 26, 2007

I had wondered how their hits would translate into English from German, hoping the best. I wasn't disappointed. Der Wunderkinds do it again. Now you finally get the idea of what they convey, but not entirely as potent as their German brewed rock. Totally great in English with perfect rhythm, timing, and wording, but guess what? They're even better in German! I'm gonna keep buying their English -UK- (hopefully soon AMERICA release albums) but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop getting the German CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new band, August 3, 2008

I was a bit hesitant to get this, as the group members are all so young, but realized that was silly.

I love this cd! the first song is Scream, and it's a great way to start off the cd. After that, it's Ready Set Go, which is one of the two videos i've seen of theirs.

Monsoon, is actually a re recording of an older song of theirs, which is also included on this cd(in german). Mosoon was the first song i ever heard by them, and it's a great introduction!

There are plenty of songs to love on this. Live every second, is pretty straight forward! live! Sacred and Rescue me are both beautiful songs, and i'm in awe that a young guy like Bill had a hand in writing them.

Don't Jump: listen to it, that's all i have to say, it's so sad but a very good song you'll want to listen to over and over again.

It helps that the guys play their own instruments. And are good looking to boot, but Bll's voice is great, and the music is well worth a listen!

Totio Hotel ROCKS!!! This is the first CD I've listened to and actually like ALL the songs. You know how there's normally one you really don't like... This one isn't like that at all (my opinion). Their music is full of enery... don't know anyother way to say it. They're a very talented band for being so young. And they sound great in both German and English! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent rock album, not just for teenagers!, August 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Scream (Audio CD)
Speaking as someone over the age of 21, I find this to be very good. Tokio Hotel does NOT play metal, goth, or emo. This is a straight-up rock album, in almost the same vein as the Scorpions style IMO. I also think it's a big misconception that Tokio Hotel's music is just for teenagers. Sure, some (but not all) their songs are about struggling against authority and trying to find your way. But since when does that end as soon as college is over and you get a full-time job?

This is an excellent rock album I liked instantly and like even more each time I listen to it. Their Humanoid cd after this one is even better. I really hope these guys have a long career and don't burn out on either the industry or the lifestyle.

I'm an artist myself and happen to listen to all types of music (rock, hip hop, r&b, jazz, country, etc.) and I think this band ROCKS FOREAL! And they're so young! I really can appreciate their music as it is very rhythmic, dynamic and their lyrics are off the chain. Please give these guys a listen!
