4.0 out of 5 stars Raw Data..."the best money can buy", July 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Spec Screenplay Sales Directory Deluxe Edition Vol #3, 1991-1999 (Paperback)
This Research Source has already been reviewed critically ... That website also provides interviews with film industry professionals who provide additional insight about spec sales, Ask a Hollywood Pro or read a column. This new way of marketing a text, adding free material to the research itself, greatly enhances the value of the text in demonstrating the best way to use that information. I question wholly the value of this raw data, which dissects the individuals who have written or sold spec screenplays over a couple of decades, because many texts and speakers in the industry make it clear the film industry is about relationships. This raw data cannot possibly answer the question, did this spec writer have a special relationship with other film industry players which was actually the reason behind the sale. Coming from a lawsuit against the media into the film industry, I find that an answer to the relationship question is almost as important as the raw data itself. That is the reason I only rate this Research Source a 4 out of 5, when it is clearly the Best Resource for what it does.
