The Practical Guide and so much more, March 3, 2010
This review is from: Screenwriting Goldmine: How to Write a Screenplay That People Are Desperate to Shoot! (Paperback)
As far as practical guides to screenwriting go, this is one of the best. It's a guide to laying out your story, on how best to present your story as a structured piece of screenwriting.
But it's also so much more than that. When you really discover the storytelling gears driving the practical instructions in this book, your writing won't look back.
A well-valued investment to your screenwriting library.

Hands down, best in the field. A screenwriter's Bible., February 8, 2010
This review is from: Screenwriting Goldmine: How to Write a Screenplay That People Are Desperate to Shoot! (Paperback)
This is by far the best DIY book I have ever read. Not only the best "how to write a script" book, but the best How-To book period. Phil gets straight to the point and lays it out in step by step, simple format. Cannot go wrong.

Buyer Beware, February 3, 2010
This review is from: Screenwriting Goldmine: How to Write a Screenplay That People Are Desperate to Shoot! (Paperback)
Granted, I was foolish enough to part with $97 for Phil Gladwin's "special package" of screenwriting know-how when it was a pre-Amazon online special. That's right - ninety seven dollars U.S.
Now that it's available on Amazon, I have a platform to warn others.
What did I get for $97? A glorified package of brochures containing recycled content that can be obtained from any number of other books on the subject, most of which are available for less than $20. Even at $35 MSRP here on Amazon, this 100 page "book" is WAY overpriced. If I could give it zero stars, I would.
If you really want to spend that much on a single book, look up "Inside Story" by Dara Marks. You won't regret it. If you feel that $35 is a lot to spend on a one book (in this economy, who can blame you?), look up titles by Blake Snyder, Denny Martin Flinn, Christopher Keane, Michael Hague, Billy Mernit, Jeff Kitchen, Christopher Vogler, Karl Iglesias, Lajos Egri, Paul Chitlik, or William Akers. Even Syd Field or Robert McKee would be money better spent.
Who knows - you might even get two books for the price of this one.
