4.0 out of 5 stars Screw It! Has the Right Twist for Good Time Rock'n'Roll
Of their first two releases, Screw It! Is definitely the best from Danger Danger. There's more fun in the lyrics and a definite "What the Heck" attitude. Ginger [Lynn] Snaps / Monkey Business, Don't Blame It On Love, Puppet Show/Everybody Wants Some are great, fun rock'n'roll! Beat the Bullet is a good rocking driver and there's some "bad boy" tunes...

3.0 out of 5 stars Boys will (still) be boys
I wasn't all that thrilled with Danger Danger's self-titled debut, but it was catchy enough that I took a chance on their 1991 follow-up Screw It when I saw it in a clearance bin. If I harbored any hopes that the band had matured a bit since the first album, they were put to rest when I flipped the case over and saw song titles like "Slipped Her the Big One" and "Horny...

Beat the Bullet is a good rocking driver and there's some "bad boy" tunes as well. The three ballads, Still Think About You, Comin' Home and Find Your Way Back Home are very good.

This CD is up there with Hardline's Double Eclipse, Warrant's Cherry Pie, Winger's Debut CD, etc. It's a sure bet that if you like these CD's, you'll like Screw It!, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably their best..., March 31, 2000
This review is from: Screw It (Audio CD)
People remember these guys for "Naughty Naughty" and "Bang Bang" but this second cd is head and shoulders above their debut. Andy Timmons actually plays on this whole album and there is almost no hint of the keyboards that were all over the first one. Both ballads on here "I still think about you" and "Find your way back home" are superb. "Monkey Business" and "Puppet show/Everybody wants some" both slam! "Crazy nites" is a true 80's hard rock throwback and they even slap on a rap at the end ("Yeah you want it").

I can't say enough about this cd except that it puts a lot of commercially successful rock albums to absolute shame. This one could have been HUGE with the right promotion. Want something to compare this one to? think "Motley Crue" 'Dr. Feelgood.' And that's the truth, ask anybody else who's bought this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Yeah! Danger Danger ROCKS!, October 24, 2003

I love this album and their debut album as well! all I listened to back in the late 80's and early 90's was Hair Metal! I loved everything about it, the energy in the songs and the great guitar rythms! and as the years go by, no matter what kind of music is hitting the charts currently... I always find myself reaching for my Hair Metal cd's! They rocked me back then and they still do! I just hope to see Danger Danger (reunited) and on tour again! I love all the songs on this CD! Ted Poley's voice is amazing!

When I first heard Danger Danger's debut record, I was not overly impressed. However, songs like "Bang Bang", "Naughty Naughty", and "Don't Walk Away" were good enough to make me buy the follow up, "Screw It".

The one and only reason I can see that these guys didn't reach the level of Warrant, Ratt or Poison, is they must have had horrible management. Danger Danger had every element to be successful, they had the look, the talent, and the catchy songs, they just never were able to crack the big time. The songs on "Screw It" that are good, are just about perfect pop metal tunes. However, there is also some pretty awful filler here as well. Songs like "Crazy Nights", "Slipped Her The Big One", "Everybody Wants Some", "Don't Blame It On Love", and "Monkey Business" are all five-star tracks, after that it gets a little thin at times.

Do yourself a favor and go pick a copy of this record, you will not regret it. I'm sure you'll be hooked, just like myself and throngs of other Danger Danger fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Boys will (still) be boys, October 16, 2009

I wasn't all that thrilled with Danger Danger's self-titled debut, but it was catchy enough that I took a chance on their 1991 follow-up Screw It when I saw it in a clearance bin. If I harbored any hopes that the band had matured a bit since the first album, they were put to rest when I flipped the case over and saw song titles like "Slipped Her the Big One" and "Horny S.O.B". Oh well, Screw It might not be the work of a wiser, more mature Danger Danger, but I doubt that's what people really want in a Danger Danger album.

With Screw It, Danger Danger basically took every element from the debut and turned it up a notch. The melodies are catchier, the production is shinier, Ted Poley's vocals are cleaner, the ballad (I Still Think About You) is cheesier, and the juvenile lyrics (on all of the rest of the songs) are so dumb they go beyond what the music will support. I mean, you'd expect songs like "Get Your S*** Together" and "Slipped Her the Big One" from Faster Pussycat or even the Bulletboys, but coming from the poppy, melodic Danger Danger it sounds like a kid trying out swear words for the first time. You're laughing at them, not with them. And what in the name of all that is holy is the horrible (even by white boy rap standards) "Yeah, You Want It" supposed to prove?

A 3-star rating is the best I can do, and I'm being generous. The songs on Screw It are melodic and catchy, but they're also as dumb as a box of rocks. I'm usually the first person to defend the 80's hair metal scene (well, me and Chuck Klosterman), but even I can't cough up much of a defense for this one. Listening to Screw It you can't help but feel the grunge invasion was justified and even necessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! Amazing! Wow!, October 24, 1999
This review is from: Screw It (Audio CD)
This is a truly great album.

This album is packed with fun songs and great guitar and voclas, the ballads may be cheesy but who could resist 'Slipped her the big one', 'Monkey business', 'Crazy nites' and 'Horny S.O.B.' ?.

This album is really really good and if you like to listen to rock music that's fun then buy this. This album is worth more than all the grunge albums ever produced put together.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for good old 80's rock and roll, May 4, 1999

This is simply a GREAT Hard rock album. It has everything from ballads(I still think about you) to great adrenaline pumpers (Beat the bullet). These guys are about having fun while performing great melodies and licks. I highly recommend their first album also.

Not by any means suffering from "Sophomore Slump" this release actually takes the party attitude from the first album, but removes the crappy keyboard sounds and adds much more guitar. It also sounds like they actually meant it on this album. If you have any doubts about the talent, check out "Puppet Show." Timmons is a SMOKIN' guitarist. All in all, this one really hits the mark, combining the party cheese of the first release with the darker, edgier sound of their later releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't get this one on iTunes!, July 14, 2011
This review is from: Screw It (Audio CD)
I love Danger Danger, but had lost this CD some time ago. After listening to it again after many years, I was so impressed with how well the music stood the test of time. Some "hair bands" from the 90's created records that sounded like they were recorded in a tin shack. Danger Danger's music is truly inspired. If you're a fan, or even just a rock music lover, this is a MUST!
