What do oil rigs and corkscrews have in common? Well, an oil drilling engineer by the name of Herbert Allen invented what many consider to be the finest corkscrew in the world. The result of a challenge by his wife who had just had an especially frustrating ordeal trying to open a bottle of wine, the Screwpull's patented Teflon coated helical screw bores easily through the cork while simultaneously lifting the cork from the bottle. I had one of these previously and it lasted for more than 10 years, so when it finally broke, I just had to get another one. It is one of my most favourite 'toys' as I do consume lots of bottles of wine!

I've had mine for several years, consistently perfect. Never pushed a cork through or caused it to crumble. Quick, easy to operate. What more could I ask for?
