5.0 out of 5 stars Screw Pull Wine Opener
This is the hands-down, best wine cork remover in the world. Inexpensive, small and lightweight, it never fails to pull out a cork, even ones that have dried up and stuck in the bottle's necks. It lasts and lasts. I've had one since the 1970s and I've pulled a lot of corks with it over its lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easiest and most efficient corkscrew I have used., March 12, 2007

Older arthritic hands appreciate this efficient product which never fails (i.e. leaving part of the cork in the bottle). Easier to use for younger hands as well. The product takes very little drawer storage space.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for the casual home drinker, January 8, 2007
This review is from: Screwpull S1015-31 Table Corkscrew, Black (Kitchen)
Unlike the auger type of corkscrew openers, this won't damage your cork so you won't get much cork residue and you can reuse your cork without any worries of the cork falling apart or getting flakes falling into your wine. The lever, rabbit style, corkscrews are certainly quicker and easier, but if you aren't pulling multiple bottles at a time, this is the right tool for the job - simple, inexpensive, compact, and works consistently well. I've had this for years and it works as well today as it did 4 years ago. The screw is coated making the insertion smooth, but is showing some slight cosmetic wear. The only concern is that it's all plastic, so it's not a good tool for heavy-duty professional use. Perhaps if they had a metal one, I'd rate it higher.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as Fast as the Pocket Model, October 13, 2008

This review is from: Screwpull S1015-31 Table Corkscrew, Black (Kitchen)
The Screwpull Table Model is almost identical to their pocket model except for the handle. The Pocket Model is actually the better of the two - it's quite a bit faster, has more leverage, and stores in a smaller space. 4 stars for this version, 5 for the Pocket.

The pocket version is here: Screwpull Pocket Model Corkscrew, Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Good design + Simplicity = Excellent product, December 12, 2009

Works wonderfully well for an amazingly simple design. The easiest and simplest corkscrew I have ever owned.

In place of this one, I was considering to buy Screwpull Trilogy Table Corkscrew but did not want to pay the extra $10. I am glad I did not. Because, this table model actually works on the same principle and could not possibly be improved on ease of use.

It is a two piece unit: one drill piece, one holder piece that positions and the drill and holds in it place. The holder is plastic and does not seem too durable to me. The two pieces are detached and you need to pay attention to store them together.

5.0 out of 5 stars The last one opened hundreds of bottles, March 7, 2009

This review is from: Screwpull S1015-31 Table Corkscrew, Black (Kitchen)
After 25 years my original Screwpull finally broke. The previous one opened many hundreds of bottles of wine effortlessly. I have no reason to expect any less of the new one I just got. With fresh teflon on the screw, I now remember how very smooth the old one was when it was new. I have owned several fancier cork screws, but I always came back to this one. If you can only have one corkscrew, I think this is the one. The only drawback is that as it gets older, the corks (particularly the fake ones) can become harder to remove from the screw after extraction. Not a big deal for me, but my wife had some difficulty on occasion.

4.0 out of 5 stars My wife can now open her own wine bottle!, January 20, 2008
This review is from: Screwpull S1015-31 Table Corkscrew, Black (Kitchen)
This corkscrew is pretty easy to use. You place the "flared" part at the bottom over the top of the bottle until the top of the bottle reaches the "stop" on the corkscrew; then push down and twist the handle until the screw starts digging into the cork. As you continue to dig into the cork, the cork will begin to retract from the bottle until is appears at the top of the screw. Then, just squeeze the top of the corkscrew while screwing the handle in the opposite direction until the screw is disengaged from the cork. Beware that this device is not effective on some bottles that have a large flared opening at the top, but should work on all normal bottles. I haven't tried it on boxed wine yet ;-)

I recommend getting the screwpull foil cutter to go along with this!

So quick and easy, I can't believe I didn't get one years ago. We've gone through several styles of wine openers, but this is the easiest by far, for the price. If you're going to get something better, it's bound to be the spendier battery-powered models. This one's better for the environment.

I always had trouble opening wine bottles. Not anymore. This wine opener is very easy to use. I personally prefer using this wine opener over the bigger "Houdini" types. The service was excellent. Amazon is turing out to be my number one shopping stop. You can find everything and at a good price.
