I have used many different foil cutters over the years and this works far better than any other. Must be the four rotating cutting blades. However, after about six months the cutter just snapped in half. Thinking I must have done something, I purchased another with the same result. I noticed Screwpull has a new design for a cutter so I will give that product a try.

Prior to picking up the Screwpull cutter, I always used a serrated-edge foil cutter in a lever-type corkscrew. Those work well, but aren't very fast and you can cut yourself, either on the blade or the foil. The cutting wheels in the Screwpull cutter work quickly and well on all but the heaviest foils (hence the 4 stars). Squeeze firmly, twirl, and lift - off comes a perfect little foil cap.

I was very unhappy that the disk that cut the foil fell off in days.
The last one lasted a least a year

I actually bought this one while I was in Paris. Somewhat skeptical but bought it anyway. Works like a charm! If you've ever been annoyed by the foil on top of the wine bottle, then get this one. You won't regret it.

This is my second such item. The first lasted many years ( about 5 I think). I really like it.

this is a fantastic item for anyones kitchen .. weather you are a social or daily drinker .. it is so much easier than pulling out a steak knife and trying not to slice your hand while cutting the foil .. this is so simple just sit it on top of the bottle, slightly squeeze turn around the bottle once, and presto your foil just falls off no fuss and no mess .. i loved it so much i bought two more for gifts .. these foil cutters go for as much as $20.00 plus in gourmet magazines ..

This foil cutter works very well. Just place over the top of the bottle, squeeze to press the four wheels against the foil and bottle, and twist 45 degrees. This sure beats my old method - using a serrated steak knife and hoping I didn't slip and cut my thumb!

I guess there's not a whole lot one can write about a foil cutter, but I did want to say that of the several I've used over the years, this is the best. It's lightweight, comfortable to use, cuts foil with great ease, and well designed. (The last foil cutter I used would pinch my finger occasionally.) It's more expensive than it ought to be, but I do expect it to last a long, long time.

I have traditionally employed a sharp knife or scissor blade to get past the bottle foil at some risk. This device offers a a safer and less clumsy way to get the job done. Simply place it over the top of the bottle so that the four cutting wheels are lined up with the neck and grasping the body of the bottle, rotate the bottle. When the top of the foil is cut, pop it off and there's the cork. The build quality suggests a long life and it has now earned a spot in my utensils drawer.

I purchased this from Amazon 2 years ago. Within 10 months one of the little wheels fell off. We tried to glue it back and it promptly fell off again. I'm looking for another brand to try.
