Book Description

April 30, 2001
ScribbleMonster and the Broken TV contains clever line-art drawings intended to be completed by children ages one and up, thereby introducing young children to the joy of art. Children complete the skeletal illustrations by scribbling over them. The book is also appropriate for older children who will enjoy the story as well as completing the illustrations in greater detail. The book is written by a professional counselor who uses the story to advocate for limited screen-time for children. In the story, ScribbleMonster is forced to find something to do while the television at his house is being repaired. ScribbleMonster and his friends spend the afternoon engaged in several fun, hands-on activities. When the TV is finally fixed, the friends opt to turn it off and continue playing constructively. Activities and age-appropriate questions for discussion and processing are included at the end of the story.

I recently bought "ScribbleMonster and the Broken TV" and let me tell you, my daughter absolutely loves the book! She's only 4 and has enjoyed coloring...or should I say...CREATING all the different Scribble characters. She even got into a discussion/argument with her cousin over how ScribbleMonster should look and in the end they decided he looked both ways...some days he was blue with pink spots and other days he was a mess of all different colors. I am going to buy the other two books in the series for her for Christmas and I just know she will enjoy them as much as she has enjoyed this one.

I highly recommend the ScribbleMonster books. Childre love to be read to. Young readers can handle these books on their own. Who doesn't like to doodle and color? Well, you can read and color in these books that your children are sure to treasure. Please don't buy another action figure or junky toy that will be tossed away. Buy books for your children and for others as gifts. These books promote independent play and boost their esteem when they finish coloring themselves. They will be showing everyone their drawings. Can't wait to see what situations come up next for ScribbleMonster and his pals!
