Book Description

ScribbleMonster Takes a Bath contains clever line-art drawings intended to be completed by children ages one and up, thereby introducing young children to the joy of art. Children complete the skeletal illustrations by scribbling over them. The book is also appropriate for older children who will enjoy the story as well as completing the illustrations in greater detail. Written by a professional counselor, the story is about celebrating difference and valuing the qualities that make one special. In the story, ScribbleMonster devises a plan to scare his dad, which involves getting good and dirty. ScribbleMonster is pleased with the outcome of his plan, but is afraid to take a much-needed bath, fearing he will scrub off his unique coloring in the process of getting clean. Activities and age-appropriate questions for discussion and processing are included at the end of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your True Colors, October 20, 2001

This review is from: ScribbleMonster Takes a Bath (Paperback)
This wonderful little book is full of surprizes and hands-on fun.
Not only can this book be read to very young children; first time readers will love it! Children can also use their artistic talents by scribbling, coloring or illustrating inside the actual book. My children loved this book and the other two books in the set. We also spent time with the suggested questions and activities. Poor little ScribbleMonster gets very dirty with his little pig friend and must take a bath. However, he is afraid that all of his beautiful colors will be washed down the drain! What will happen next? I sent sets of the ScribbleMonster books to my nieces and nephews in San Francisco and Chatham, New Jersey. My sisters called me to say that the kids love the books. This book was terrific fun and a great buy.
Thanks to the Dagues for a wonderful addition to our bookshelves.

Here is a great way to spend FUN quality time with your children. ScribbleMonster attracts my four year old and seven year old with his lesson learning antics and the wonderful opportunities to complete the illustrations themselves. Get the crayons, markers, and colored pencils out for a reading and coloring fest.
