After purchasing and playing the game I felt it didn't end up being worth the $40 price-tag. The campaign is quite short and was finished within about 4 hours of play. There were a total of around 12 or so starite missions total (in length comparable to starite missions in other entires in the franchise) comprising the entire game story. Additional tasks must be completed to earn "reputation" to unlock levels and these are not static but randomly generated within the levels with around 5 or 6 minitasks to complete usually requiring an adjective or object to be created or fetched from elsewhere in the level. I noted that several times these would simply break on their own where one random task would manage to kill or defeat another task giver before I could reach them.

A lot of care went into adding a whole slew of creatable superheroes but I ended up feeling like that time would have been better spent putting playable content and polished playgrounds into place. In the end you're left with little replay value given strong limits on how starite tasks must be completed. Part of the joy in earlier scribblenauts games for me has been in crafting oddball solutions and here I felt too pigeonholed and directed toward a preferred solution (i.e. "No, you MUST add an adjective to this character"). This may have been forgivable if you had more mission tasks in which to stretch the experience. To boot at several points starite missions broke their scripting entirely due to my trying to deviate from preferred solutions.

I may have enjoyed this more if I was a hardcore aficionado of the comic franchises. The major thrust of their effort was clearly in allowing you to use hundreds of pages of comic rosters no matter how obscure.

This game is amazing! I'm still wondering how they made every little bit of adjective and noun you could possibly think off... makes me wonder how they even made this game. There's only one small flaw... the game is too short, I beat it in like 3 hours on my first try, and this is the first scribblenauts game so half the time I didn't even know what to do because I was still getting used to it. (you'd probably get used to it quickly, its just the way I play most new games). However ignoring the fact that it was short, the story was pretty amazing and the character can be funny and sometimes cute.

For a tip, if you see any flaw in the game, ignore it and you'll come out of it saying it was awesome!

First off, this is still scribblenauts with all the crazy randomness that makes it so much fun. The combat system has been vastly improved, now you can point and shoot in a direction instead of having to click on the actual target, which is great when dealing with swarms of enemies. You also get more superpowers which is always fun.

Unfortunately, the game world is much smaller than the previous game and all the locations are based off the superhero source material which limits the variety (I don't really need three nearly identical new york city clones) and the main story is a bit too structured at times in what items it expects you to use.

The new random missions system is a double edged sword, it's nice to always have something new to do but at the same time these are just random templates and after a short time you start to see the same mission over and over with the words changed around a bit. The big weakness of these random missions is that you have to grind them to get enough reputation points to unlock the new areas. Further aggravating this issue is that the reputation is divided into three factions (batman, superman, green lantern) that are completely independent so you might have done a bunch of random missions in one city, but it only unlocks areas and costumes for that faction even though the random missions are essentially the same for all areas.

There has also been some regression from the previous game and some words no longer work properly (try applying the inflatable adjective to anything).

Overall it was still a fun game, but I hope that the next scribblenauts game returns to its roots and doesn't try to shoehorn itself into another universe.

Great game. Only drawback is you have to go through the Steam website to download and the instructions for entering in the purchase code aren't very clear.

Was pretty disappointed with this game. Overall, it took about five hours to play all of the content in the game. There's ten levels and six back story missions for different super heroes. Each level has one story mission that is not replayable. You can do little side puzzles in each level as much as you want, but they can be rather confusing i.e. I kept failing on that want me to clean something even though I kept making the object "clean", "washed", "immaculate", "spotless", etc.

Not a bad game. It's just really short and I'm glad I didn't pay more than $5 for it.
