Review of Scripophily: The Art of Finance,
By
This review is from: Scripophily: Art of Finance (Hardcover)
Keith Hollender's Scripophily: The Art of Finance has been around for 15 years now. It remains the unsurpassed primer for collectors of stock and bond certificates, as well as other scrip. Scrip is non-banknote paper that holds monetary value while not being currency itself. Scrip enthusiasts have been active for decades, but scripophily as a formally recognized hobby dates only to the 1970s. When Scripophily first appeared there was nothing quite like it in print. Judging by this reviewer's recent scouring of Internet sources, there is still no other comprehensive publication for persons wanting an overview and succinct summary of this fascinating field. Useful topics include collecting themes, the history of scrip and scripophily, and how to start building a collection. Written with the layperson in mind, this amply illustrated book is ideal for exploring how to add scripophily to your list of pastimes. I highly recommend it!
