I've never even heard of Icon for Hire until this week. I was shopping for some new music for a friend, and I accidentally found this masterpiece. As soon as I started listening to it, I LOVED IT! I don't know what it is, but for some reason, this album really gets me going. It's powerful, thoughtful, well organized, and loads of fun overall. I would definitely recommend this album to anyone who is picky about their rock music like me. If you like Flyleaf, Fireflight, The Letter Black, Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, etc., you will love Icon for Hire.

Tooth & Nail Records "other female-fronted band" have just released their debut album, "Scripted". A mixture of punk rock, synth pop and great lyrics are the result. Let's get to the review!

"Scripted" throws open the curtains with a suspenseful intro to "Theatre", a heavy-hitting song about living life beyond the script. Ariel's punk vocals hit you in the face with urgency, the music is great, and the lyrics really pack a meaning. "Make A Move" is the single from "Scripted" and urges us not to compromise. "Make A Move" is more in the style of their EP's, carrying that same raw sound as songs like "Fall Apart" and "Call Me Alive". "Make A Move" is one of the best tracks off "Scripted".

When I first heard "Get Well", I was really surprised as Icon For Hire never did any synth pop on their EPs. However, it was a nice surprise, and I really like the "new" sound. The lyrical theme is very different than a listener normally hears, with lyrics such as "And being lonely's only fun in a group/It sort of loses its charm when it's true" but the lyrics of "Get Well" are a message that needs to be heard. "The Grey" follows, and is one of the three older songs Icon For Hire chose to re-do. This version is beautiful and doesn't differ much from the EP version. Ariel's vocals are more polished here, and there are minor lyrical differences. Another standout track.

"Off With Her Head" follows, and I have to say, while the "Scripted" version is awesome, I like the EP version better. The EP version had more of a raw punk feel while the cd version sounds very polished with a bit of pop influence. It all depends on your tastes!

What a wonderful album! You can really tell that Icon For Hire put a lot of soul into this album. An amazing blend of electronic and rock! These guys are all talented musicians, and I'm very ecstatic that I purchased their album.
Trust me, buy this album. In fact, I'm listening to this album right now while drinking a Dr. Pepper, and I don't even care that it's only Tuesday and I'm stuck at work. That's how good Icon For Hire's music makes me feel.

I hadn't heard of Icon For Hire before I bought their latest album. I was browsing through Amazon's selection and decided to give them a listen. I really liked what I heard! The lead female singer has such a good voice, it's strong in its ability but is never overstated, like most singers on pop radio these days. Lyrics are very important to me, I can't just listen to mindless sentiment, it has to mean something. The songs talk about overcoming addiction, whether it's addiction to attention or to destructive behavior and thinking for yourself. I know that most guys will look at this album and assume that this is "chick rock" but I think this album could stand up to any rock album and give it a run for its money. If you're sick of the Katy Perry and Lady Gaga clones out there, give this one a try. I like all of the songs on the album but I definitely recommend checking out, "Get Well", "Theater", and "Make A Move". The pace of this album is on the faster side and it's a bit short but it never feels like it drags on with no purpose. If you want something a bit more ambitious than candy pop and want something of substance, check "Scripted" out. It's worth it.

I'll make it short and sweet. I love this album. If your a fan of Flyleaf or Fit for Rivals, you'll love this album too. "Make a Move", "The Grey", and "Off With Her Head" are the best songs on the album. Gonna wear this album out until the next one comes out.

This band has helped me in so many ways. I love the rock, and fresh sound of it all. They've inspired me to go so far, helped show me that you can follow your calling doing something awesome. When we first found their music I was going through a hard time, and listened to their album on repeat for probably weeks. Midway through a song I decided that I was going to quit my dead end job and do something better. Best decision ever, I'm constantly motivated by these guys to keep pushing harder, and to not play the stupid games the world plays. Somebody's got to make a move, but you don't understand how much you have to lose by not making one. "Critics and Cynics" just came out by them too, go ahead and check that song out too, it's one of their best. I love the new sound of that, and can't wait for their new album to drop!

This CD was excellent, I absolutely loved the use of techno, pop, punk and other elements as audio detail highlights to the rocky punk genera the group brings, Lyrics were well thought out as well as easy to follow along with, while still retaining a detailed purpose in why they were being used to tell the story of each song. I should let every one know their 2 music videos are equally as high class and cool and everything else that makes my inner rocker want to come out and play. By the way the lead singer is hot and I want to marry her. There is not too many girls out there that make pink hair rock. Theatre is probably my favorite track with Get Well and Make A Move on the podium right behind. Overall I would have no problem listening to any one of the tracks on this album at any time!
