This is the second book in Liguori's 101 Series, and it takes the reader on a journey through the history of the Bible.

The first section of the book focuses on how the Bible came to be, understanding how the Bible was written, and a Catholic approach to Bible study. The second section deals with reading the Old Testament, recognizing the power of the prophet's words, and unraveling the secrets of apocalyptic literature. Understanding the New Testament is the topic of the third section, which explores the world into which Jesus was born, the world of Paul and his letters, and the Book of Revelations. The final section is the postscript, which explains the gospels the Church left behind.

Scripture 101 introduces key elements to understanding the Bible. The first section explores some of the traditional preconceptions that we have about the Bible itself. The next two sections build and expand on this foundation as the author, William J. Parker, focuses on the Old and New Testaments respectively. Father Parker offers clues to the answers of these and other questions. In Scripture 101, you will enter the culture that surrounded the birth of Jesus and learn to explore the world from which Jesus drew his stories of building the kingdom of God. About the Author

Fr. William Parker has degrees in Biblical Studies and Semitic Languages from The Catholic University of America. He has been both associate pastor and pastor and has conducted numerous parish Bible-study programs, as well as university courses. A frequent writer for Liguori Publications, Fr. Parker previously held the position of Editor-in-Chief of Liguorian magazine.

While this book is written with Catholics in mind, it is an excellent introduction to the bible that any Christian would greatly benefit from. It is an easy, entertaining read and presents the Word of God in light of the Bible's history. Well worth the read!!

Scripture 101, is great. It answeres questions you may have and walks you through the Bible. Great for anyone who has not read the Bible because they thought it to difficult. If you have been away from the Bible, use this book to be reintroduced.
