Battery life is short and refills are expensive,
This review is from: Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner 1 ea (Health and Beauty)
We purchased two of these over a year ago and have one in a shower and the other in a bath/shower stall. Both work well for awhile and then when the batteries still have half of their life left, the unit will quit working and you must replace the batteries. I've tested the batteries that I take out and they still show as good, but do not have enough juice left to make this work. There is no warning of low battery power, it just won't turn. It might beep, then nothing happens. The refills are also way to expensive. About $4 each. We've taken to refilling the bottles with a product called Mist and Go that costs a dollar, from the dollar store, for a spray bottle that almost completely refills the bottles used for this. The caps don't come off easily to refill the bottles either, but with a little force they do eventually come off and can be resealed. Have decided not to use this product any longer. Tired of paying for new batteries monthly and refill bottles if we don't have the Mist and Go on hand. So we will go back to hand spraying the shower and tub with the Mist and Go following each use.

Almost a great product,

This is a great idea, and in some ways it is a great product. It really does keep the shower clean, bright, fresh, and (I assume) sanitary, and it's easy to set up and use. The problem is that it turns out to be a disposable product. I use it about every three days, and I've just bought my third one in six years. So if you use it every day, don't expect it to last more than one year, which happens to be the warranty period. They just haven't figured out how to keep the cleaning fluid from getting inside and corroding the electronics.I notice on this latest version (each one I've gotten has been slightly different from the last) they've put something that looks like Vaseline on the battery contacts, and they've included a little sheet warning you not to let liquids get into the battery compartment. That's the least of your worries. Even when the batteries stay dry as a bone, the cleaning fluid leaks eventually inside the appliance, where the motor, pump, valves, and control circuits are, and you can't even get into that part without special tools. Regardless of how careful you are with the batteries, there's no way to keep the fluid from eating out the guts of the appliance eventually. When my first one failed after three years, I took it apart to find out why, and I was amazed that the thing had lasted as long as it had. Everything inside was wet; all the metal parts were corroded and disintegrating. So for the second one, I decided to take the appliance off the shower arm after every shower and store it upside down, so at least the fluid wouldn't be sitting on top of the valve between uses. I also removed the batteries and made sure the battery compartment was completely dry after every shower. Evidently it didn't make much difference; even with all that extra care, it died three years later just like the first one did. The leaking must happen as the fluid is being sprayed, so there's nothing we as consumers can do about it. But I've accepted the fact that this is a disposable appliance. The price has declined steadily over these six years, so at less than 5¢ per use now, it's not bad at all. The cleaning fluid adds about another 15¢ per use; so with the few cents batteries add to it, paying less than a quarter each time not to have to clean the shower is worth it to me. I'll keep buying a new one of these every few years as long as they keep making them.

Design flaw,

I'm not sure what it is, but there is some sort of design flaw in this thing. It really does seem to clean, but the automatic dispenser doesn't last very long. It eats through batteries every week or so. I've tried every combination possible: new batteries, different brand of battery, returned/replaced the unit several times, with always the same disappointing result.

Short battery life and expensive refil,
This review is from: Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner 1 ea (Health and Beauty)
The system works great in keeping the shower clean. However, you need a battery factory in order to keep it going. Bad design considering the little power the tiny motor needs to dispense the cleaner. The 4 AA batteries should last much longer. Refill is way too expensive. You buy a family size refill bottle of hand soap that runs the family for 6 months or longer for the price of one bottle of refill for this system which does not last you a month.

Good but could be better,
This review is from: Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner 1 ea (Health and Beauty)
I've been using this product for about two years. The cleaning solution is great, but the dispenser can get a little tricky. My first dispenser lasted at least 6 months before I had to replace the batteries and I used the shower once a day. After replacing the batteries it lasted another 6 months or so and then it quit. I tried replacing the batteries, but it did not work. I broke down and bought another one and it's been fine.I gave my mother a kit for Christmas two years ago and she loves it. I recommended it to my brother who also loved it but had problems with the dispenser. He contacted Johnson & Johnson, and he said they could not have been nicer...sent him a coupon for a free replacement good at any store.

I received the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner as a Christmas Gift and have used it for about a month and a half now. However invented this machine was a genius. It works really well and I have already noticed a huge improvement in the cleanliness of our shower. It not only maintains a clean shower but it removes stains that wouldn't even come off with a normal scrubbing. No more mildew or soap residue. So far I have had no problem with the unit. If you use it once a day the solution should last about a month.

I agree with earlier post. When the unit stopped working, replaced the batteries, it made the beeping sound and then nothing.Bought a new unit, put fresh batteries in, made the beeping sound and then nothing! What a horrible product!

Been using these for years...,

And, like others, got tired of replacing them. However, when the last one quit, and I still had three bottles of the cleaner, I found another solution. I bought a re-useable spray bottle, poured the cleaner into it and, when I finish a shower, I stand OUTSIDE the shower door, and spray the walls, floor, and then the door itself. Have to stand outside, as the fumes are sort of fierce. However, the results are just as good. So, I will now continue to buy the replacement bottles of cleaner, only use the hand sprayer to spray the stall after taking my shower.Works for me...if you try this, just be careful of the fumes! Convenient cleaning!,

I received the shower cleaner kit from [...] and have been using it for about a month. I am still on the first bottle of cleaner, but it will need to be replaced soon. The batteries seem to be holding up fine, unlike some other reviewers have said. The shower cleaner has done a good job of getting rid of the built up gunk in my shower, and has made my normal cleaning sessions less stressful. I will continue to use this product.

Works Well, Cuts Cleaning Time,

I am a Bzz Agent and recently received the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner to review.I have to admit, I was not sure how well this product would work - especially on our "hard to clean" glass shower door. Well, it's been about a week and I already see a HUGE improvement! The glass door is much cleaner which means less work for me! So far, so good. I like the beeping sound once you press the button, it lets you know that you've got about 15 seconds to get out before it starts spraying the cleaner. The batteries were included in the package and it was a no-brainer to set up and begin using right away. Based on the improvement I've seen in such a short time, I would definitely recommend this product! |
