Fantastic information al book, May 8, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Scruffy (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
I am a first grade public school teacher who believes strongly in humane education. One of my children brought this book to school for book share. I was delighted to hear the acturate information that was presented. Many important animal welfare topics where touched upon. It was a wonderful discussion starter for how to be a responsible pet owner. The children were able to ask many relevant questions and get realistic answers. What a great book to read with children who care about animals. My children asked to hear it again and again.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Scruffy (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
i really like this book beacuse it teaches me that you shoudn't judge people, books, or animals. Scruffy is about a boy who wanted to have a cat for his birthday. Once his parents take him to the animal shelter he picks out a very pretty kitten but then he saw an ugly cat who was all alone and sad. Since the boy feels bad for the cat he adopted him beacuse even tough he wasnt cute he was sweet, loving, and playful.

FANTASTIC ! I love animals and this book!, October 11, 1998

Hi I am 6 yrs old and you may have seem my reviews before. I am a great fan of I can read books. This one is really one of my favorites. I like what Todds parent's did for him. I also like how helpful and patient Mrs. Star was to Todd. But most of all I loved Scruffy! This book also taught me things about cats I didn't know. If you love animals or want one you should read this book. Again the best part is you can read it to your parents and not have them read it to you.

Scruffy is a great book that teached me that you shouldnt judge animals by the way that they look because they can be sweet, loving, and a great pet. Scruffy is about a boy who wanted a cat very much and when he went to the animal shelter to buy one he saw lots of kittens and cats . after he looks at all thecats he chose the sweetest of them all even tough he wasnt cute

Not for sensitive children, May 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Scruffy (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
The child in the story goes to the animal shelter to pick out a kitten. While there were terrific messages about responsible pet ownership, my child was crushed when I had to explain what putting animals to sleep meant. Not something that needs to be in a book for 6 year olds.
