Book Description

Get Fuzzy Collection September 1, 2006
Bucky Katt is a rather obstinate Siamese who constantly battles his "owner" Rob for control of their home. Satchel Pooch, the Labrador-Shar-pei mix who's sweet and lovable, makes a nice lackey for Bucky. Bucky knows he's smarter than everyone else; it's just a matter of convincing the rest of the world. Satchel always tries to do the right thing but very often ends up the brunt of Bucky's antics. Rob Wilco is a bachelor trying to regain household domesticity. Together, this seemingly typical threesome gets into some less-than-typical but hilarious situations. There's never a dull moment at the Wilco residence.

Get Fuzzy, featured in over 500 newspapers worldwide, is one of the most highly lauded cartoons in the country. The National Cartoonists Society named it Best Comic Strip of 2002. Its sidesplitting humor and hilariously illustrated facial nuances appeal to animal lovers everywhere. Bucky and Satchel's words and expressions are what we all picture our beloved pets saying and doing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Get Fuzzy Reading Guide - collections vs. treasuries, January 16, 2007
This review is from: Scrum Bums: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
I won't go into how fantastic this comic strip is, but it is easily my favorite comic strip of all time. :)

For the uninitiated, there are eight collections so far and three treasuries. The fourth treasury is not yet released.

Please keep in mind that each treasury is two collections put together, so as far as I know the treasuries are the same as two of the collections, except I believe the treasuries have the Sunday comics in color while the collections have them in black and white.

In chronological order, the collections are:

1. The Dog is Not a Toy: House Rule #4
2. Fuzzy Logic: Get Fuzzy 2
3. The Get Fuzzy Experience
4. Blueprint for Disaster
5. Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection 5
6. Scrum Bums
7. I'm Ready for My Movie Contract: A Get Fuzzy Collection
8. Take Our Cat, Please: A Get Fuzzy Collection

The treasuries are:

1. Groovitude (encompassing collections 1 and 2).
2. Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun (encompassing collections 3 and 4).
3. Loserpalooza (encompassing collections 5 and 6).
4. The Potpourrific Great Big Grab Bag of Get Fuzzy (encompassing collections 7 and 8). (not yet released - release date is currently 9/1/08)

I can say that these comics are beyond hilarious, and I would highly recommend them to pet lovers/haters of all ages. :)

This is by far the best Get Fuzzy collection to date. It has some of the newer strips, some I've seen in the papers and more than a few that I haven't. Perhaps the funniest is when Bucky takes Smacky to get appraised at one of those traveling antique tv shows. I laughed until I cried. A definite classic Bucky moment. This is Conley at his best.

5.0 out of 5 stars "I Didn't Know You Could Make Sushi Out Of A Skunk.", November 13, 2006
This review is from: Scrum Bums: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
"Scrum Bums" is yet another brilliant collection of my favorite current comic, "Get Fuzzy." I have enjoyed all the "Get Fuzzy" books to date, but this is definitely in the running for my favorite. Darby Conley manages to pull off the very delicate balance of being both funny and true to life in these strips that anthropomorphize human characteristics so well into the characters of Bucky and Satchel.

Along the way there are some wonderful plotlines (the "Antiques Roadshow" series is classic, and the collection about a Marine losing a leg in Iraq is both touching and poignant) and some great standalone strips including the one referenced in my title where Satchel doubts Bucky's sushi making skills ("Oh, sure. You can make anything into sushi with a good knife.")

This collection is a delight to read, especially for animal lovers. I highly recommend "Scrum Bums" and all the other "Get Fuzzy" books as well.
