This was a great Magazine. Owened by Rodales, then FW Media.I still get it. But sad to say, it is now a Bonnier Magazine (SPORT DIVER-part of PADI, PADI DIVE SOCIETY)You can forget about side by side tests, etc.UGH

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of great info., October 1, 2010

This review is from: Scuba Diving (1-year) (Magazine)
I bought the magazine about ten times last year so this year I subscribed. This magazine is awesome. Lots of info about worldwide diving spots, gear reviews, hotel/resort reviews... it's full of great info and awesome pictures. Plus it's pretty cheap compared to other diving magazines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable, especially if you like underwater photography, September 22, 2010
To begin, I am not a professional diver, though I enjoy diving when I take a vacation. I find the magazine has excellent photography and descriptions of underwater locations. It will highlight unusual locales and will show sea creatures and wrecks that are accessible or completely impossible to reach, but either way, well worth seeing. I find the comparisons and reviews of different dive gear useful.

The downside that makes it rate 4 out of 5 stars is often the articles are a bit shorter and less comprehensive than I would hope. It also frequently has an article on safety, which is often depressing as diving safety lessons seem to occur after the death of the diver. Not that safety isn't critically important to diving (it absolutely is), but personally, I could do without reading about fatal diving accidents more than once or twice a year regardless of how enlightening or interesting the story.

It is written for the layman, is a very easy and enjoyable read, and is one of the only magazines I read cover to cover. I do not think it is written with the professional diver in mind, though I expect the photography would be enjoyable to anyone. Every time I read it I wish I were in the water on a dive. I look forward to it's arrival every month or two. I hope this helps.
