this is great for people who cant equalize or have trouble with there ears . I am a dive teacher doctors told me when i first started diving that I would not be able to dive any more for the fact that I could not equalize. I then found pro ear and I now dive every day with no problem I also teach handicap divers and I have them wear them also so that they do not need there hands to equalize

I have owned at least five of these masks and find them a great help in keeping water out of my ears as well as helping equalize. In use, they don't last long and I cannibalize parts from them to keep others working.

Unfortunately the design is sound, but the implementation is poor. Many users I know report they cannot get a good seal or properly clear with this mask. This includes the dive techs and instructors at several dive shops I use.

Past manufacturers of this design have had problems with the tiny plastic nuts and threaded nipples that hold the corrugated hoses in the mask. This model uses thinner mask materials and may or may not help this issue. Support for previous mask problems, (calling and writing for parts) was worthless.

I use a combination of three things to prevent ear problems: The ProEar mask, properly fitted and sealed, (2) Doc's ear plugs (perforated), and (3) a 3mil (or lighter in warm water) neoprene hood under the mask and ear caps. In very warm weather/water, I wear the ear plugs, then the mask and pull a Lycra hood over the whole combination. The hood makes the ear caps seal well.

Use of this system has cut my ear, nose throat (ENT) Doctor bills by about 90% over several years, so I know it works. Diving in Florida's salt water estuaries year round is a good way to get ENT infections and this system has definitely worked for me.

The user must remember that this equalizing function cannot unclog ear/nose passageways, so it will not solve congestion problems.

FIrst up, I have been diving for many many years and am a qualified Divemaster. For years I have been having intermittent ear troubles when diving, which ultimately killed all enjoyment.

I was very sceptical despite the reviews here and when I finally got the mask I went for a number of pool trials and then extensive snorkelling before I dared taking it on a proper dive. I have put increasing strain on it and have been waiting for a leak or break - but nothing broke.

Ultimately my verdict is that this mask is excellent - given my short hair my ears stay completely dry. Clearing the mask and ear cups (when intentionally flooding) is no issue and all of my ear pain and equalising troubles are now in the past.

The 4 star rating is only due to the comparatively smaller googles, which compared to the more commercial brands are a little more restrictive when it comes to your field of vision and remind me of my first mask 20 years ago - but then that isn't really a problem - you just have to turn your head...

All in all a great product - now come on and release the next version with some bigger googles!

I started having some ear issues my last dive trip and a dive master suggested I try one of these masks, they had an extra.

It took a little bit of getting use to because it is different than a regular mask with the pieces that cover your ears and also a bit different way of how it feels when you equalize, but it was easy to get past that. By the second dive it was fine.

It keeps your ears dry and also makes you feel better/less feeling of pressure. The ear pieces look a bit different, but in the end I was able to dive comfortably, which is what really counts. Good for snorkleing also. If you have ear issues at all, you should get this, it is very worthwhile.

My relative has a hole in the eardrum, also known as tympanic membrane perforation. He had very bad trauma, when he was playing water polo. The hole in his eardrum never heeled, or Dr.s couldnt do any surgical procedure either. Since then he couldnt swim any more. I was looking to get something like this for a long time, couldnt find anywhere. until now. Very happy with product, my relative is happier than ever!! It doesnt leak, keeps tight, dry. Very sturdy, good quality.

Both two units to snorkel with my wife in cool water. It is impossible to acquire a seal for the ear muffs and it becomes more annoying. I am still looking for an effective product for the divers like me who are experiencing ear problems.

I ordered these because I nearly always have issues with my ears when diving. I think I've seen the emergency rooms of every country we've visited! So I thought I'd give these a shot and see how it worked out. The first time I wore these, they leaked a little, but I was able to descend easily and equalize better than I ever have.

After coming up and discussing with my group of diver friends, one of the guys suggested I try and use the silicone he uses on his mustache to get a good seal for his mask. Well, that did the trick. I just applied a little above and around my ears and the next dive was the most comfortable dive I had ever had! No ear pain, nice dry ears, easy to equalize, just great! I'm not sure if it would be less of a pain for a guy with short hair, but I am a girl with long hair and the silicone worked great for what I needed.

I would (and already have) highly recommend this product to anyone that has ear issues. I originally learned about it from our dive guide in Indonesia who had ear issues as well and said he'd never dive without it now. I think I agree with him. Made diving so much more comfortable and enjoyable.
