A lovely collection, well researched and described.,

This review is from: The Sculptural Heritage of Tibet (Hardcover)
The Nyingjei Lam Collection is idiosyncratic and refined, showing the advanced sensibility of a careful and sensitive collector. Many of the bronze sculptures found here are highly unusual, and it is very refreshing to see a catalogue made up entirely of works we have never seen before. The authors have written a very well-researched and thoughtful catalogue which explores thoroughly the many themes suggested by the works of art they approach; a terrific job in the difficult field of catalogue raisonne, where the scholar is forced to deal with a selection imposed arbitrarily. Particularly impressive is the wide selection of supporting material from other collections. The catalogue is well produced and the photos are clear. For an on-line sample from this lovely collection, originally exhibited at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford England (through 1999)...
