I do not see any satire.

This book can only possibly be enjoyed today by those who, seventy-five years ago in Germany, would have raved over the original inspiration for this drivel.

The SCUM Manifesto was written in all seriousness by Solanas, but cannot be taken seriously.

Fact of the matter is the SCUM Manifesto is absolute garbage.

The entire book is self-centric, and she is a brooding, resentful, sociopath.
Is it worth the read? Only if you subscribe to the concept that by understand her you gain an insight to sociopaths.

The truth is, you get less insight into sociopaths and more insight into how far a woman can take her sexist behavior.

It starts off proposing that the XY is an incomplete XX. For which, in modern science we now are aware that XY can do everything that XX can, genetically, but not the other way around. (A study done by a co-ed core of scientists.)

She goes on ranting on about the selfish nature of men, but fails to understand group dynamics whatsoever.

Men in the real world tend to preference judgment in favor of females at a 70%+ rate, having female group preference.
Women, however, have shown 100% same group preference in every study done.

Meaning. Men, internally, tend to do things in order for women. Women, always, do things for women.

So her claims of men being nothing but selfish, greedy monsters, is not just misinformation, its misdirected.

The fact that she wants a female only society even plays into what is now established fact, and its sad that she cannot see past her own sociopathic greed. So much so that she structure a viewpoint of how to create a utopia (funny word, Utopia, means place does not exist. Dates back to ancient Greece) including only females, she does not self discover same group preference that is only inherent to women.

After all, there is no nonfiction book where a man will claim to kill all women and then go on to talk about a utopia he can make with just men.

In a mans utopia, there are more men than women.

No man dreams of a sausage fest (Well ok. Gay men maybe? I don't know).

The manifesto opens with Solonas' claiming that women must "destroy the male sex" and demands women birth only female children from now on. She describes men as "biological accidents[s]," "walking abortion[s]" and "emotional cripple[s]." She details the supposed negative effects inherent male defectiveness has on society. Most of her incredibly questionably assertions are bigoted statements about men, but she also makes other outlandish claims, like "the problems of aging and death could be solved within a few years."

The remainder of the book is a call to create SCUM, a terrorist organization/movement that will take over society through theft, sabotage, vandalism, forcibly removing people from their jobs, taking over news media, forcibly breaking up heterosexual couples and murder. Lots of murder. Solanas clearly states, ""SCUM will kill all men who are not in the Men's Auxiliary of SCUM." Although, even being part of the Men's Auxiliary is "not a sufficient condition for making SCUM's escape list." On the other hand, even women who do not cooperate with SCUM will be spared, because Solonas believes killing women would confuse the public's perception of SCUM. She also thinks it is unnecessary. Unlike men, she believes woman are "improvable" and if SCUM can "eliminate men" then "women will shape up."

The book provides basic details about how the organization/movement will operate. SCUM will always rely on criminal activities and not "picket, demonstrate, march or strike to attempt to achieve its ends." SCUM will actively recruit.

It's funny how people consider this book a work of "feminist" literature. It's kinda funny how people consider Valerie Solanas a "feminist", when she was a misandrist. There is a difference between feminism and misandry, and this is a work of misandry, not feminism. Feminism is a movement concerned with sociopolitical equality for women who wish to be viewed as equals to men in the workplace as well as other aspects of society. Writing a book about the enslavement and termination of men is nothing short of the Hitler-esque ramblings of a schizophrenic misandrist who was clearly out of her mind, and I'm not just throwing around "schizophrenic" like it's a funny word to use, Valerie Solanas really was schizophrenic. Now, having said that, this book, in no way, deserves to be taken seriously as feminist literature. It's psychotic hate speech, much like Mein Kempf. I'm just glad this woman never rose to any amount of political power.

This book can only possibly be enjoyed today by those who, seventy-five years ago in Germany, would have raved over the original inspiration for this drivel. Another time, another place, another scapegoat for one's physical, intellectual and spiritual deficiencies with deep inferiority complexes, whether it be Jew in one age, or white heterosexual male in another. This Feminazi drivel must be rejected by all woman's rights activists and feminists like Germans rejected Mein Kampf, because until then, no-one can take anything they say seriously. One can only imagine what genocide would have taken place if fate had ever placed this misguided victimologist in charge of a dictatorship like Adolf was, and all men can be grateful that love, truth and understanding always prevail in the long run, while hate-filled misfits like Solanas are only respected by like individuals of the same character, which is clearly evident from a quick scan of the reviews of this bile.

I give this book 2 stars only to get around Amazon's 1 star filtering policy. Far from deserving a single star, it's not even fit to be used as toilet paper.
