When I think of the Gwar sound, I think Scumdogs. This is Gwar at its best. More direct and to the point than America Must Be Destroyed, and more "metal" than some of their later efforts (not to slight those discs at all, see my reviews of them), Scumdogs of the Universe is the perennial Gwar record. Crushing, blaring guitars and ridiculously black and campy lyrics induct one into the Gwar universe, paving the way for what is to come. Oderus puts a lot of heart into the vocals on this one. Notable tracks: Salaminizer, Sick of You, Sexecutioner's Song, Love Surgery. ..., they're all good.

You HAVE to get this,

This CD is incredible. I have loved Gwar since the early days of Hell-o and my music style has changed dramatically. I'm into old skool hip hop now and international rap and I still just LOVE this CD. Death Pod has some of the greatest guitar playing I've ever heard and Oderus makes chills run down your back with his awesome lyrics. I remember when they played here in my city and I was too young to get in so I just leaned up against the wall of the place..It was so worth it! Get this now!

THE Best Gwar Album,
By A Customer

If you wanna now what Gwar sounds like, get this. What you must know Gwar is not a metal band there more punk. I've been listenin to Gwar since I was 10. If your a metal or a punk fan who's not easily offened buy this album. They're so cool they been banned in my hometown(Richmond, Va(oddly enough it's their hometown too)). Buy this, and if you like this get they others. A warning though, the songs get more offensive with the album. The worst(meaning the coolest) was "Have You Seen Me"and "Babyraper".

...Never should have been let out the *&^%$#@ microwave"! I wasnt going to review this until I read the 1 star review from marxist. Scumdogs of the universe is an hilarious album. When I first heard this I laughed until my stomache hurt. After I got over the laughing spells I began to apreciate the songs . Bottom line is that this album rocks hard and what do you do with someone with marxist in their name? CRUSH HIM LIKE BUG!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what can I say about "Scumdogs of the Universe". I bought this back in 1990 and it blew my mind. I had not heard anything like it then and I still haven't heard anything like it. This album is nearly perfect. My favorite GWAR is "America must be destroyed" but this one is a very close second. If you're a GWAR fan then I know you already have it.If you are not a GWAR fan do yourself a favor and buy it.
SCUMDOG FOREVER.

this is by far one of the most out there cds i own. this cd just about covers every big genre of music. slaughterama which is a good song strangely reminds me of beastie boys but it is funny as hell.
but songs such as sick of you have a much more metal feel.I would recommend this cd for sure,it is funny and entertaining

this is a definite metal gem.every song on this album is great, even if the lyrics are a bit too twisted at times, for example a particular lyric on the track death pod about god is just sick and uncalled for ,at least in my opinion.but if you are able to get pass the lyrics you will enjoy a great musical expierence.the opening guitar riff on the salaminizer is one of the best opening riffs of a song i ever heard.everysong on this album is a gem, truly not one weak track here.even though every song is great my favorites are the salaminizer, sick of you, maggots, vlad the impaler and slaughterama.if you don't already own this cd,i recommend you pick it up.truly one of the best heavy metal cds out there.

Excellent Early 90's Sick-Metal/punk,
By A Customer
This review is from: Scumdogs of the Universe (Reis) (Audio CD)
Gwar is one of those bands you either love or you hate, never far away from current events, or weird media self promotion campaigns, Gwar has to be one of the most driven bands on the music scene. They toil nonstop making elaborate sets, costumes and stage plays of the sickest most twisted stuff imaginable, and it's great! If you like subtle and not-so-subtle humor in your music, check this album out, it's worth every song on it. From the humble Death Piggy roots, you can see the band is constantly evolving to make fun of modern musical trends. Just check out gwar.net, and oderus.com

This should be on VH1's Ultimate Albums for it is great! Is humerous in almost every song but, some of them are very serious. Sick Of You, and Slaughterama are the two funniest songs on the album! Gwar's costumes are cool and all though they have never made it real big except for in the early 90's they release an album like every year or every other year. Gwar are a mix of punk and heavy metal. They are good at what they do but, my believe is that even if you never make it real big and you end up on VH1's Where Are They Know? like Gwar did has nothing to do with it as long as you enjoy what you do like this band does. The release home video and DVD's every year or every other year just like they do with there albums.Go out and buy Scumdogs of the Universe because, it is a good album and should not be overlooked!
