I used this to hold a 2.5 inch solid state hard drive in a small case with itx board. The opening on the bottom is good for ventilation if it opens to an air source. The frame will mount two hard drives, however, if either is a standard disk the two drives would be too close to allow for much heat dissipation. It would work fine for one standard disk or two SSHDs. The bracket is plastic and the casting has extra angles and material so it has solid support. price is good, i'd buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for SFF (Dell) or HTPC low profile type Mini ITX type, July 27, 2010

I worked on a friend's Dell small form factor desktop that she purchased on Ebay. They have tiny power supplies and are cramped inside. It came with a bad hard drive and she had a laptop with burned out board from over heating. I installed the laptop's 2.5" drive in to the Dell and the hole on the bottom of the tray allows air flow for the HD cooler fan that connects under neath it.
