I used this to hold a 2.5 inch solid state hard drive in a small case with itx board. The opening on the bottom is good for ventilation if it opens to an air source. The frame will mount two hard drives, however, if either is a standard disk the two drives would be too close to allow for much heat dissipation. It would work fine for one standard disk or two SSHDs. The bracket is plastic and the casting has extra angles and material so it has solid support. price is good, i'd buy it again.

I worked on a friend's Dell small form factor desktop that she purchased on Ebay. They have tiny power supplies and are cramped inside. It came with a bad hard drive and she had a laptop with burned out board from over heating. I installed the laptop's 2.5" drive in to the Dell and the hole on the bottom of the tray allows air flow for the HD cooler fan that connects under neath it.

This thing is awesome. If you have room underneath the bay, it looks like it would be really easy to mount a fan (unsure which sizes but definately can use an 80mm fan). Unfortunately, I don't have any room underneath the drive bay. It's a low profile case and only has room for (1) 3.5" drive. This allows me to use (2) 2.5" hard drives. I'd recommend Western Digital Black for the price.

Great price. Bought it for my Crucial SSD, which I also purchased on Amazon. Works great and I love that I was able to place a fan on the bottom of this adapter that shoots down right to my Raptor! Awesome!Super crazy fast shipping. Shipped monday, delivered on Tuesday. I must live close. Recommended.

There really isn't much to review on this bay converter. It's reasonably cheap, made of decent quality plastic, the holes line up well, and it was easy to install. Beats the heck out of letting my Intel X25-M rattle around in my case.

Used for a 64 GB SSD drive. Works fine and holds the drive. I have to install the drive vertical, which worked just fine.

This will fit in a standard 3.5" drive bay, and will also fit in most tool-less bays. Holds 2 SSD or laptop drives, and has holes for a fan, although SSD drives run cool enough that a fan is never necessary. I have purchased a lot of Scythe accessories now, and I am always pleased with the product.

At the cost, it's hard to quibble, but this bracket a small glitch that almost hung me up when using a spare 2.5"HDD in an upgrade to an iMac.But first: it did work for me, and will almost certainly work for you. That minor gripe: when a 2.5" drive is mounted in this bracket, the edge connectors aren't quite where they would be on a full-sized drive (i.e., a 3.5" drive). The drive is recessed towards the center by maybe half an inch, but even that small amount might be enough to keep very short cables from making the reach. In the iMac, it was close. I can also imagine some drives directly attaching to a connector directly mounted on a circuit board, which wouldn't work here at all. (The SATA connectors were explicitly designed to allow such blade-style connections, so look at the system you'll want to use this in before buying it). So: not perfect, but a good hack. And given the very low price I paid ($7.94, with shipping covered by Amazon's "FREE Super Saver Shipping") I'm happy. |
