5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended., June 20, 1998

The same goes for their other title published by CORASON; "A Una Coqueta". In fact, they have another two titles published by the official Cuban government label EGREM. Those are not easy to come by.

Cuarteto Patria is made up of Eliades Ochoa as prinicipal voice and ( metal stringed ) guitar. He is accompanied by Humberto Ochoa on second guitar, a percussionist and bassist. Chorus is provided by the latter three.

Eliades Ochoa's voice and unique style of playing and the wonderful percussion and base make this group a heavy weight in the Cuban Son bolero and scene. Catchy songs/music arrangements and superb playing.

Also check out; "The Corpse Went Dancing Rumba" by Los Guanches published by CORASON. The percussionist ( Joaquin Solorzano ) and the bassist ( Armando Machado ) played with Cuarteto Patria before forming this new group.

Eliades Ochoa and Cuarteto Patria are the real deal. Elides is the authority of Cuban traditional music, which is the parent of what is known as "Salsa." His voice, his lyrics are masterful and when plays his "Harmonico" it is musical poetry. Eliades' solos tell stories that take you to Cuban orient mountains, its vast valleys and beautiful beaches. In this album Eliades shows off his Campisino roots with Sanrandoga, Gallo Ejando, and Caiman Ae and delights us with a Puerto Rican Plena (Se solto un Leon.) Eliades to me is one of the World's greatest musical artist and this is one of his best works of art.
