5.0 out of 5 stars This should be back in print!, October 30, 2003

How could this be out of print??? After hearing the first two tracks on "Universe 2," which featured Giles Reaves, I bought "Sea of Glass." Have you heard Vangelis, Brian Eno (i.e. his ambient albums), Jonn Serrie, the 7-Volume OMNI series (featuring Giles Reaves on Vol. 4), and Kevin Braheny's "The Way Home" (formely named "Perelandria")? Then you outta get this CD. Maybe even those of you who listened to Tangerine Dream's spacey music may want to give "Sea of Glass" a listen. The music's nice, making it a really good CD. I'm glad I got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quiet synthesizer classic - or should be, May 4, 2006

I have had a special interest in electronic music for decades, am a big fan of Tangerine Dream since the early 1970s, and am a devoted follower of Steve Roach. Reaves music is somewhere in between, but shares an authenticity and vision with those other artists that makes him a standout among new age and electronic music. "Sea of Glass" is consistently tranquil but with an exciting edge, like a really good movie soundtrack, but without the dramatic swooshes. Reeves is much more subtle with his synthesizers than say, Vangelis, and less airy and predictable than Kitaro, and far less pretentious than either. I can't believe how fresh this album still sounds after 14 years. Hasn't dated at all--which itself is impressive given how quickly "exploratory" music in this genre tends to sound quaint after a few years.

Highly recommended. Shouldn't disappoint, or irritate, anyone.
