Sea Kayaking shows lots of scenery and introduces techniques necessary to pursue kayaking beyond the casual use of very basic kayaks. As you advance from the $250 chainstore kayaks to Transitional or Touring kayaks this is the video to watch. It is not a whitewater kayaking video it is a sea kayaking video. This video would apply very well to our Great Lakes and rivers and large lake touring as well. I have watched it 4 times already and it has helped me to pick my next set of equipment.

don't get me wrong, this is a very good video, but why 4 (more like a 4.5) instead of 5 stars? One word - details. While the author shows a lot of techniques/general overview, he tends to be somewhat vague in the details (and actually skips some discussions all together), maybe because he is an exerpt kayaker and certain aspects of kayaking just seem intuitive to him by now. Not that this is a big problem, but you need to treat this video more as a starting point than as a "comprehensive" instructional video. Still this is a very good/well put together video very suitable for beginner/novice/intermediate

Great all around video for those looking for the basics up through more advanced skills. Filming and locations are really cool and the teaching host is much better than a couple other videos I've seen.

This is far and away the best sea kayaking instructional video I've ever seen. Besides the basics, it tracks a myriad of little details that others bypass. My wife and I have spent a lot of time with novice paddlers who would have been way ahead of the game if they had seen this first. Does it beat personal instruction and hands-on practice? Of course not, but it would sure make it easier for an instructor to get you to an intermediate level.
