Great game for kids who love the ocean,

My 12-year old daughter loves this game. She likes to swim around and explore different areas within the game. She enjoys collecting fossils to create new monsters. She also enjoys fighting with other sea monsters to retrieve fossils from them. If you have a child that loves underwater games, this is the game for him/her.
The 2-player racing was OK. Instead, my daughter made up her own game with a friend and played hide and seek. They really had a blast trying to find each other.

Sea monsters started with much potential.
Hunt and be hunted, explore vast seas... Unfortunately, What we ended up with is pretty much a platformer underwater: Unlock new species to use their special moves to get you to the next area, complete mission objectives. The control system is shoddy though I have to say that after an hour I was pretty used to it. The swimming system requires you to hold down ^ on the D-pad nonstop, so your hand will hurt after a little while. There are also glitches. Nothing like getting all through a mission to get stuck in a wall, or all of a sudden find a spot that swimming through causes instant death. It will frustrate you... a LOT! Publishers really need to quit pushing games through testing in order to get them on the shelves quicker, you always end up with a sub-par product. The music wears on your nerves after a while and offers no variation. The one good thing I have to say is that it's mildly educational, and lacks real violence or blood. (Eating fish isn't really even cartoon violence, after all, we humans eat fish) My advice is to avoid this and if you really must have this game, I'd wait for the Wii version in Jan. Hopefully they'll work out the glitches first. Also If ocean exploring is your forte' I'd also look into Everblue 2 PS2, and Endless Ocean Wii, Both are wonderful games and allow for all kinds of ocean exploration.

My granddaughter says Sea Monsters is an awesome game. She had difficulty at first but now enjoys the game very much. She thinks it's a great game especially finding fossils.
