5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it's supposed to do
There's not much to say- this net does what it is supposed to do. i had some back-field work to do and i would literally have hundreds of obnoxious gnats around my head at any given time. Due to the net, i could not tell while i was working.

shipping was prompt as well

1.0 out of 5 stars Better wear a very little hat!
I wear an Outdoor Research Rain Sombrero, and although it doesn't look much bigger than the hat the guy's wearing in the ad, apparently it is. This thing isn't nearly big enough!! It doesn't fit around the hat well at all and when I secured it using the cord lock, half of my neck was completely exposed. I put it over my head without a hat and found that securing the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mosquito net!, June 15, 2011

This review is from: Sea to Summit Mosquito Head Net (w/wo Insect Shield) (Misc.)
Summary: after comparing to 2-3 other nets, this is the best yet.

This was a gift for my mother, and I have also tried it out myself. It's being used in rural NH for gardening. There are a LOT of flies and mosquitoes. Before using this net, my parents tried out a few others.

Pros:
-The black netting provides much better visibility (versus dark green and brown nets), especially on sunny days
-The drawstring (versus elastic) is essential! Drawstrings allow for a looser fit on the shoulders which prevents insects from attacking your neck. The elastic causes bunching on the neck, which unless you have a high turtleneck, leaves parts of your neck exposed.
-Extremely light weight

Cons:
-None that I've experienced

1.0 out of 5 stars Better wear a very little hat!, September 4, 2010
I wear an Outdoor Research Rain Sombrero, and although it doesn't look much bigger than the hat the guy's wearing in the ad, apparently it is. This thing isn't nearly big enough!! It doesn't fit around the hat well at all and when I secured it using the cord lock, half of my neck was completely exposed. I put it over my head without a hat and found that securing the cord lock would then give my neck just about the right amount of protection that I'd like...but do you really want to wear this without a hat and to have the bugs bite you directly through the net?? It's going straight in the trashcan. Another flaw is that the holes in the netting are clearly too big. This might keep the bigger bugs out, but the tiny ones would laugh as they crawled right on through.

we are plagued by tiny, biting gnats all summer long. They make life outdoors miserable. This light weight net is great. I use it with or without a hat and it works great. Easy to see through and the adjustable neck really keeps the bugs out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact protection for go-light backpackers, May 13, 2010

Having backpacked for decades, I've learned that clouds of gnats and mosquitos around your head can significantly detract from your enjoyment. I finally broke down and got this net. I chose it because of my experience with the quality from this manufacturer, and because it's light and packs down incredibly small. Size is important to me, as I am on a continual quest to make my kit smaller and lighter, which makes my treks more enjoyable to me. It worked well, the mesh is suitably fine. Make sure you bring a hat with a brim - a trade-off for this packing down so small is that it does not have a hoop to stand it off from your head.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Batteling Mosquitos in South Texas, June 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Despite not really having to have purchased it not knowing that jacket has its own attached head hoodie gear and face protector attached to it we have chosen to keep this extra head nets for other family and friends when needed. Is not expensive and it is very easy to breath and use on. It truly protects againts mosquitos stinging and biting your face and body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excited to use!, June 10, 2011

Product comes in a nice pouch for storage and feels plenty roomy with a hat on underneath. Drawstring is nice as it does not choke as some of the others do with the elastic closure. Excited to see if it will withstand the midges of Scotland!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gnats no longer a problem, July 24, 2011
Use this down in S Florida while working in the yard, and it works great to prevent the gnat population from flying up your nose, into your eyes and out your ears. So now, instead of spending half my time shooing away the bugs, I can concentrate on gettin' er dun...the yard work ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect bug repeller, July 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I work in the oilfields of Utah and the bugs are horrendous this year. There are flying red ants here in the desert mountains. I am from Texas and we have ants..FIRE ANTS..but I have never encountered flying ants till now. We have had massive rainfall and snow melt so the mosquitos are as bad as Louisiana in places.

This net fits my hard hat even with my light attached. I would recommend this to anyone who cant do bugs on your face..like me! It would be nice if it were a bit larger but it works great for now.

4.0 out of 5 stars It keeps the buggies out, May 25, 2011

I wish I'd bought this before the little black flies got to me. When I go out wearing this, even without a hat of some kind, I am protected. Highly recommend.
