It's a cool cup and great for hiking/backpacking or even car camping. I would just recommend the 12 Oz Xmug over the 8 Oz Xcup, unless you are purchasing this for a child.

Great for business travel or camping

NEVER EVER use the glasses provided to you in a hotel room. It's a surefire way to get sick. Just Google it. I carry this in my bathroom kit for business trips. It's great for camping too. Folds right up, and doesn't take up too much space. Not heavy either. It is sturdy enough to hold moderately hot liquids (coffee) and rinses clean easily.

As convvenient as you can get

I have used this cup and a larger version while camping, traveling, even for water for acrylic painting. I take this size to work, sometimes in my pocket, or in my pack. It's really convenient. I was a bit concerned when I wanted to boil water in it with a heating coil that unavoidably touched the sides and the bottom. No problem at all. The temperature would have to be much higher to damage the cup. The top ring is very stiff, and the cup material appears hardy enough to withstand years of folding and unfolding. It's an excellent design.

Back country or boardroom

I travel for work, and purchased this to bring on the road. I use it instead of a disposable or as a companion to my collapsible water bottle. It's appropriate to sip from a cup than quaff from a canteen :) I also use it as a measuring cup for portion sizes. It is as described, fits in my bag, easy to clean, capacity is just right. It is comparable in size and shape to the short, clear hard plastic drink cups used at parties.

Worth Every Penny

In an age when the majority of products that I purchase leave me "less than satisfied", I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this cup is of outstanding quality, and extremely useful. In the past I would carry a canteen and a paper cup that I could flatten and open back up on long dog walks. The cup usually lasted about 2 "drinks" before becoming next to useless. I purchased the Sea to Summit cup to replace it, and it has worked perfectly. It fits easily into my pocket collapsed and is solid when expanded. I've started taking my dog to a local dog part the past couple of months and when I pop it open and set it out, there have been up to 4 dogs using it over the hour we're there. It gets rolled on, and dragged through the dirt, but still washes up nicely and looks like the day I received it. I will purchase more. One thing...offer an OD green color!!!

Extremely useful and compact

I've only used this for cold and room temperature water. I have a Camelbak Groove water bottle, which I use to drink filtered water wherever I go, including on airplanes. But you can't get through security screening with that much liquid, so I take the empty bottle through security.

Then I'm faced with the need to refill it. The bathroom's a bit sketchy, and buying bottled water is expensive. Water fountains? Fine. But you can't get the water bottle full using that little low spigot.

So I carry the Sea to Summit X-Cup in a plastic bag in my carryon's front pocket. I pop it open, fill it a few times from the spigot, pouring into the filtering water bottle. Voila: Free water for the flight, no muss and no fuss. I shake the cup a couple times to drop off any water and wipe it with the paper towel I keep in the ziploc.

So I am recommending this primarily as a great way to carry a small cup with you when a larger cup is impractical.
