Sea Swept,
By Kelly "Reviewer for The Sinfully Sensuous" (Littleton, Colorado) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
Cameron Quinn is at the top of his game! He is a champion at his first love racing boats, famous, and a different woman every night. His world comes crashing down around him when he is notified his adopted father, Ray, is dying from injuries received in an accident. Cameron arrives in time to say goodbye along with his brothers Phillip and Ethan. It is then they find out that they have another brother named Seth. Since they were all adopted, they all come together to make sure Seth is taken care of.
Anna Spinelli is responsible for Seth as his caseworker. She is a no nonsense take no prisoners type of woman. Anna is straightforward and doesn't play any games. She knew that mixing business with pleasure was a no-no but she couldn't deny her attraction to Cameron. Cameron decides to move home to provide the stable environment Seth needs. Phillip, Ethan, and Cameron have never raised children before, and they have no idea what to do in many circumstances. Anna is sympathetic to them, and helps them as much as possible. As Cameron and Anna grow closer, they must find a way to balance all the needs of this family. This is a wonderful start to the new series. Each of the brothers is very different, and it is a struggle for them to learn to be a family unit. There are some very funny antics, and some very touching heartwarming moments. Cameron and Anna are good together, and have great chemistry.

An awesome start!!!,

This is the first book in the trilogy about the Quinn brothers. SeaSwept introduces you to the Quinn family and in particular, Cameron Quinn. The male characters are very strong, sensitive men with an incredible sense of family morals. I thought this was a great story, the plot was detailed and very strong characters! The story revolves around Cameron Quinn and Anna Spinelli. Cameron comes home from Europe after hearing of his foster father's illness. His dad dies and the brothers are left to care for a 10-year old boy. Anna is the boy's social worker assigned to the case. Her and Cameron fall in love over the course of the novel. This is story of strength and love and of the ties or fathers and sons and brothers. Each brother must come to face their past demons and make their way into the future and join together which will affect the future of their youngest brother, Seth.

Nora at the top of her game,
By pontmarie (SF Bay Area) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
This beginning part of the Cheasapeake Trilogy is, so far, my favorite book by Nora Roberts.Racing boat champion Cameron Quinn is called home just as he is about to bed a dazzling model. His adoptive father, Ray Quinn, is in an accident and is dying. Cameron races in time to say good-bye and to face reality along with brothers Philip and Ethan: there is a fourth Quinn boy, Seth, another stray taken in by Ray, who now needs the three very different men to work together. Anna Spinelli is Seth's caseworker, someone who has to make sure that his best interests and needs are met. Although a romance between a caseworker and the boy's brother, Cameron, is a major conflict of interest and a no-no in real life, their relationship is sizzling! This book was a great set up for the next two installments. I loved it!

This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
I LOVE Nora Roberts books. I am always thrilled to find a new one or revisit one I have already read. I am triply thrilled when I find a new trilogy. This set of books does not disspoint. Again, all three of the books in this series can stand alone. However, I find that it is nice to read all three in order because the characters build on each other and develop throughout the series. Sea Swept is about three men who had been taken in as young boys by a man who became a father to them. These three men are different but held together by love. When they are asked by their father to care for the new boy he had taken in, they do just that. Seth is determined to live up to his father's expectation. He is a strong character with an iron will. He also is a very caring man who wants to do right by those around him. Anna is a social worker determined to do her job and ensure the young boy has a suitable home. What follows is a wonderful story about two people working together to provide a home for a young boy. It is wonderful when they realize that they are really walking down the same road and romance blossoms. I enjoyed the humor that Nora Roberts displayed in this book. As this trilogy continues I found that the humor continued. I appreciated the true feeling of comaradarie among the men that Nora Roberts is able to write about. I enjoyed this book immensily.

SeaSwept is perfect summer reading!,

This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
SeaSwept is my favorite Nora Roberts' book. Actually, the entire Quinn Brothers trilogy is an excellent read (Inner Harbor, Rising Tides). SeaSwept introduces you to the Quinn family and in particular, Cameron Quinn. Ms. Roberts' male characters are always strong, sensitive men with an incredible sense of family and morals. Upon meeting Cameron in the opening pages of this book, he's what one would call a "player." But when called upon by his siblings during a family crisis, he comes through shining. It has always been the three Quinn brothers but a family tragedy brings about the possibility of there being a fourth Quinn that they had no knowledge of. SeaSwept is a familial story of strenghth and love and of the ties that bind fathers & sons and brothers to each other. As with each of the Quinn boys, they must come to face their past demons and ultimately, their present, as they each make their way into the future and join to affect the future of their youngest brother, Seth. It is an excellent read and is enchanced by the story setting of the eastern seaboard town in which it takes place.

Complex tale of the healing power of love,

This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
Sea Swept is the first of a triology of stories on the Quinn brothers. Cameron, the oldest brother, is an adventurer and risk taker, he races anything on land or the sea. His life style is anything that is fun and challenging. He faces his biggest challenge when he gets a call that his father has been in a terrible car accident. He races home to Cheseapeke Bay from Monte Carlo to find his father near death. Along with his two brothers, Ethan and Phillip, he promises his father they will take in Seth, the latest child Ray Quinn has brought home. Cameron, Ethan, and Phillip were all adopted by Ray and his wife when the boys were young, all damaged by a hard life. So the Quinn brothers promise to take care of Seth and grieve as Ray dies. Follow Cameron as he struggles to come to grips with the loss of his father while trying to reach the wounded heart of Seth. Cameron moves back home to create a stable life for Seth and to appease a fiesty social worker, Anna Spinneli. Cam and his brothers struggle to solve the mystery surrounding Seth and their father as well as the reason behind their father's accident. Cameron and Anna struggle to find a way for their relationship to flourish. Nora Roberts creates a family of believable, flawed, and intriguing characters in this book. I've already started the second and am enjoying it as much as I did the first.

I couldn't put it down.,
This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
Sea Swept by Nora Roberts is the first book in the Quinn Brother's Trilogy. The book is about three boys, who at a young age, were on the run from their miserable lives. Ray Quinn and his wife eventually adopted all three. They are all reunited when Ray is involved in a car accident. He makes them to promise to take care of Seth, the lastest child to be part of the Quinn family. The first book centers around Cameron, the oldest of the brothers, who becomes involved with the social worker handling Seth's case. While the brothers are trying to adjust to living with each other again and start a business, they are also determined to solve the mystery surrounding their fathers death and the true story of Seth. I can't wait to read the next book. I figure it can only get better.

Sea Swept Demonstrates Roberts' Recycling Ability,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
Sea Swept may give readers a case of deja vu. But don't worry, you are not losing your mind, Roberts is just traversing some familiar ground in her latest mainstream romance. Granted, this is hard not to do, given the number of books Roberts has written. With Sea Swept's main characters, the three Quinn brothers, Roberts has re-cycled some of her earlier work, especially her Mackenzie brothers series for Silhouette Intimate Moments. Even though we've seen these guys, or shades of them, before, they are still entertaining. While Roberts may have a gift for creating appealing and realistic male characters, she too often draws heroines that are equally unappealing. Such is the case in Sea Swept. Anna Spinelli, the love interest for hero Cameron Quinn, is unsympathetic. Though Roberts tried to create a strong, pulled-herself-up-by-her-bootstraps heroine, what she ends up with is an unattractive woman who comes across as rather cheap. Hero Cameron Quinn, disappoints as well. His transformation from immature, self-absorbed playboy to responsible, somewhat grown-up,is unconvincing. Given the shortcomings of Roberts' main characters, it is not suprising that their love story leaves readers cold. Based solely on sex, Cameron and Anna's relationship is shallow and leads to an unconvincing happily-ever-after ending. Sea Swept's best moments are the scenes between the Quinn brothers. They are funny and the dialog and thought processes of the men ring true. In these instances, Roberts does prove that she knows how to write convincing male characters. What Roberts is unable to prove, though, is that she, or her editor, proofread her work. Early in then novel, Quinn brother Phillip has a navy blue Land Rover. Later on he has a Jeep. This kind of sloppiness should not be tolerated by writers, editors or readers. Readers will tire of the too-good-to-be-true patriarch of the Quinn family, "The Mighty Quinn" (ugh). His saintliness gets old fast and, Surprise, Cameron starts having conversations with the man, who, in addition to his other sterling qualities, has to ability to come back from the dead to offer comfort and counsel to his children. This book gets a 6 because Roberts failed to create a hero and heroine that engage readers' sympathies or interest. The skill and humor she displays in the creation of the three Quinn brothers is not enough to offset the failings of the hero, heroine and their relationship.

A touching and wonderful story!,
By Sophie (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
"Sea Swept" is the first book in the trilogy revolving around the Quinn brothers of Cheseapeke Bay. The entire trilogy is a must read, although each book can stand on its own.The Quinns are three brothers who were all taken in by Ray Quinn and his wife as abused and neglected juvenile delinquents. Because of the love and understanding of their adopted parents, the Quinn boys turned their lives around and they became a true family. This is the story of Cameron, the eldest, who is called back home from his life of sailing and adventure after his father is injured in a car accident. As Ray Quinn dies, he asks his three sons to raise Seth, the boy he has just recently adopted. Cam struggles to deal with his father's death and tries to reach Seth's guarded heart. He also meets Anna Spinneli, Seth's social worker, and begins to develop a relationship with her. The romance between Cam and Anna is realistic and very passionate. The relationship that Cam and his two brothers, Ethan and Phillip, develop with Seth is truly touching and is perfectly written by Nora Roberts. As the brothers struggle to solve the mystery of who Seth really was to their father, and at the same time try to convince the government that they are capable of raising a child, there are all kinds of funny, heart-warming, and poignant scenes. In the midst of all this, Cam and Anna develop deep feelings for each other and try to figure out where those feelings will take them. The result is an absolutely superior book that you won't soon forget. Trust me, you will love these brothers!

This review is from: Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay, Book 1) (Paperback)
I received all three books as a Christmas gift and although I prefer Medieval and Historical romance, I couldn't put these books down until they were finished. 'Sea Swept' was the first Nora Roberts romance I've read and I can't help but think, "Where have I been!". You may be sure that I'll continue. I've found a new favorite! Because I read all three books together, without having to wait an agonizing time for the next to be published, they read as one continuous novel. House and family was put on hold. It'll be a long while before my husband will buy me books for a gift, especially if they're Nora Roberts'. He's probably glad he didn't get me the 'MacGregor Series'. Can't wait to get my hands on them!
