We bought this raft for our trip to Hawaii May of 2010. I am very...um...frugal, and buying a $[...] raft for my kids was a huge hang up for me. I justified it by saying I have 3 kids, and over 10 days, it was only $1 a piece per day. ;) My husband was planning on leaving the raft in Hawaii, but after we used it for the 10 days, he didn't want to leave it....it was AWESOME!!!

We blew up the raft manually with no problems and in very little time. Filling the view port was easy in the kitchen sink of our condo. The weight of the raft to carry it was not as heavy as you might think it would be. It was easy for me to carry down the rocky entries we used for snorkeling.

Our whole family is huge into snorkeling and scuba, so involving my 4 year old was important to us. We put a life jacket on him placed him on the raft and towed him out to sea. There are plastic handles for the kids to hold on, and the pillow helps them rest them rest their heads right over the window. My 4 year old was a little scared that he could see 15 feet down, and realized how deep we were, but he loved seeing the fish. My 7 year old got lazy, and found that when my 5 year old was making sand castles, he could get a free ride and not have to use his snorkel. It worked great for him too. My 4 year old got brave and wanted to go out into 30+ feet of water to see a sea turtle. We took him out and he saw one through the port hole for about 5 minutes. It was the best part of the trip. We only used it off shore, but it would work great off a boat too.
*We did have to tie a nylon rope to the raft, it did not come with a tow line* the other word of caution that is listed in the instructions is *Do not let the raft rest face down on the beach, and beware or rocks" The port window will get scratched.

Last year we bought one of these for our family trip to the Caribbean. The two year old grandson loved it. The four year old grandson was a little afraid.
This year we bought two of these for both boys, ages 3 and 5. Our 7 year old granddaughter is able to use a mask and snorkel. This meant that the whole
family, grandparents, parents, kids, and aunt and uncle could go out snorkeling together. (At Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos). The float works so well! The
boys loved seeing the fish, coral, and even an octopus and a sea turtle. Thanks for a great product!

Oh, and a recommendation to parents--invest in wetsuits for the children. They were able to stay out in the water much longer because they didn't get cold.
Second recommendation, take good care of the float. Don't let the children drag it in the sand. It will scratch the window and it won't be as clear a view.

Bought this for my daughter so we could go snorkling as a family. It worked well, she stayed glued to the window and even fell asleep. It was hard to fill the window with water, but well worth the money. I recommend this for children who are not afraid of the water but cannot swim. I used it in conjunction with a life vest. My Daughter was 22 months old. Well worth the price even if we only use it once- allowed us to do something we haven't been able to do (snorkling) since she was born.

We purchased this raft to take to Hawaii for our almost 2 year old to use while we were snorkeling. It was the best purchase we made. He had a great time floating around on this raft looking at all of the fish and other creatures in the water. The window was really easy for him to see through and the handles enabled him to hold on and feel secure. He really enjoyed riding on his little "boat" and looking at the "fishies". It inflated and deflated easily and folded down compactly to fit into a suitcase. We highly recommend this item.

Bought this raft for our recent trip to Palau since my 4 year old daughter is finicky about wearing her goggles and I wanted her to be able to see the fish and jellyfish in jellyfish lake. Worked perfectly!!! Size is perfect for small children, handles are thoughtfully placed and so easy to use for small hands and arms, headrest is perfection, and the visibility through the lens is impressive. I cant say enough good things about this raft! I was worried that it may be poorly made and not very useful but I was wrong, I would recommend this product to anyone with children that are interested in seeing the underwater world.

We purchased the Sea Window Explorer snorkeling raft for our 2 1/2 year old daughter for a recent trip to the Out Islands of the Bahamas. It is the truly some of the best money that we have spent. This raft is longer that the other model and allows a little more space for your child to lay on, which was very nice for our little girl. It just seemed to make her feel more secure to have more of her body on the raft. As for visibilty...EXCELLENT!!! She could see absoulutely everything that we were seeing. The depth were we were was a max of 11 feet. She could make out all of the fish, see the colors, & see the other parts of the reef just as though she were actually snorkeling. It was so much fun to hear her excitedly lift her head and yell "look I see fish!!" This raft is very sturdy but we did put her life jacket on her as well just for added safety. It was very easy for her to slide onto the raft. She prefered the handles at the top of the raft as opposed to the side. I was able to hold one of the side handles however I generally put my arm across her back. I highly reccomend this product for anyone wanting to share underwater life with their small children.
