I was really looking forward to receiving this book, but it was rather disappointing when I got it this afternoon. The sea folklore presented was minimal, as was the information about sea gods and goddesses - there is much more info available for free on the web. The cited poems were a nice touch, but I felt that they were just space fillers because the author couldn't come up with enough original information. This is one of the most basic of basic magick books I've seen. Having said that, the specific references with correspondances for various seashells, seaweeds, and sea creatures was something that was needed for those of us who are water element people, so I wish she'd gone more into depth. I noticed a glaring typo toward the end of the book - mythology is not spelled with an "i" - it made me wonder about the editing process. There were not that many works cited at the end of the book, so perhaps this was a first effort?
So, if you are a noob in matters magickal, this might be a good book. If not, I'd suggest saving your money. The cover is pretty, anyway, but the cover and maybe 20% of good content are not worth the asking price in this case.

Excellent book with a unique perspective,

When I first learned of this book, I was very excited. Living in Miami, FL, the sea is never far from me! So much has already been written about Earth Magick, Air Magick and Fire Magick, but surprisingly little good information has been presented about the Magick of the Sea. I actually read this book straight through, then went back and tabbed some of my favorite parts. I really enjoyed the book, and will be using it as a unique reference for many years to come.

I would recommend this book to any one who is interested in sea witchery. Its an excellent introduction to the craft of sea witchery. This book does not indulge in details but there is a lot of information about shells, sea weed and sand. Its a great reference even after the initial read.

A great book for the aspiring sea witch,

This is a well written, and very easy to read book which gives you the basics of sea witchery as well as some simple spells. Some of the information differs to Wicca/Traditional Witchcraft with regards to sabbats and other ritual work. A must have if the path of the sea is for you.
This book gives details of deities, circle casting, calling quarters, details on shells, plants and sand for use in spells.

A must have for the beginning Sea Witch!,

After searching many bookstores around me with no luck, I snagged this book off of Amazon, and I am glad I did. This book is a very nice beginners book. There are chapters of information on shells, sand, and even seaweed. Some basic information on witchcraft is included, along with some spells, quarter calls, and the like. This is a first edition. First edition meaning that it is the authors first crack at this. You might see a typo, but that does not make the information any less useful or interesting. In the back of the book is an address to write the author, and her website (which unfortunately is going to be closed down as of September 1st 2010 after being open for 7 years) that enables you to contact her. I did so, and found she is a delight to speak with. All in all a good read. Just wish I had found it sooner. Many blessings!
