Customer Reviews

I am so happy I finally purchased this and that it was a SeaSonic 80+ Gold.
Denise A. Moss
It really comes in a nice package with the extra cables stored in a bag they supply along with some fasteners for cable management.
BryanOPs
It had a good reliable reputation, it was quiet, it was efficient, and it was priced right for those criteria.

SeaSonic 650-Watt ATX12V/EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply SSR-650RMI received my new power supply today and I installed it into an XPS 8300 to replace my 460W stock Dell PSU. I connected all the cables into the right places and nothing wrong has occurred so that's a good sign. I advise anyone who is planning on upgrading their power supply to check the dimensions of the power supply they are going to take out against the new one. Depending on what power supply you have make sure that the new PSU you're putting in is the same width as the current one that you have or it won't fit, the new PSU can a bit longer depending on what case you have. I had a little difficulty putting the SeaSonic 650W in because it was just about 2/3 an inch longer than the stock PSU. However, it sits perfectly inside and looks pretty good. I'll comment more when it has been broken in for at least a month.

[Update] March 27 2014
It has been 9 months since I installed the PSU and there have been no problems. I also noticed that this PSU is virtually silent.

SO far I've been greatly impressed with this PSU and its eliminated my blue screening issues I was experiencing with my other PSU. But to be fair it wasn't all the PSU's fault I also had bad memory which was really at the heart of the problem. Once I replaced the PSU with this one I noticed a 90% drop in the blue screening, after I replaced the RAM my blue screening has stopped all together. I really love how quiet and efficient this PSU is all for a good price with a good warranty. I've got it powering this system:
My rig:
Seasonic 650 watt Gold PSU
Gigabyte 970A rev3.0 FX motherboard
AMD FX6300 black edition
Zalman 92mm CPU fan
120GB Samsung 840 series SSD
1 TB WD redundant drive @7200RPM
16GB crucial ballistix tactical 1600MHz
Asus 7850 2GB 256bit GDDR5 graphics card
All this rolled into a nice, well ventilated, Thermaltake tower and powering a very underrated 24inch Dell monitor.

Without any issues for a couple months now.
The only thing I haven't really liked about this PSU has been the questionable warranty (as compared to corsair's 7 year warranty) this one has a 5 year warranty which I was rather shocked at considering it's the same PSU seasonic sells to corsair who then rebrands it and resells it for more. In contrast though from the in-depth reviews I read, the Seasonic one here, has better efficiency, noise control, and better voltage regulation in all aspects. Furthermore a seasonic gold rating actually means gold level efficiencies unlike other companies. Also the power cord it came with was quite impressive (all be it a bit too short for my liking) by being nice and thick which reminded me of the quality cords you see going into high end servers.
So far I've been enjoying this PSU and hope to have years upon years of joyful use out of it.

I bought this because I upgraded my computer with a new graphics card. While doing some major searching online, I consecutively found that many, many people suggest SeaSonic over any other brand of power supplies. I also learned that their rating (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc) is very important to consider; I wouldn't purchase one that is under gold.

I am an incredibly cheap person, but I know it is best to invest more money in quality hardware for long term results. It's easy to say "well this is cheaper, it's a better deal" but in the long run paying more money for a higher quality purchase will wield better results.

I bought this because the new graphics card I bought (XFX AMD Radeon HD7950 3 GB DDR5) requires a power supply greater than 500w; my old power supply that came stock with my computer was only 300w (make sure to check your power supply requirements when upgrading a computer, it is extremely important), so I needed a upgrade. Installation was super easy (some of the best written directions I have ever seen, but make sure to watch a couple Youtube videos on how to replace your power supply if you are a first timer like I was) and worked seamlessly with my desktop. It came with SO MANY cords and connectors it's certain to run with any rig. Another thing I noticed was the cords themselves were wrapped in a tight fabric to keep them tight and in control, rather than all over the place.

I rate it a 5 our of 5 and would recommend it to any of my buddies looking to upgrade their gaming rig!

As a first time builder you are over saturated with products promising heaven and earth so after some research I found out that most experienced builders suggested this brand SeaSonic if you have the cash. It seems SeaSonic supplies the major players so you are buying directly from the source.

Anyway, it is a semi-modular ( I say semi because it has the main power cable, PCI-E and the 4x2 pin that goes into your motherboard everything else is modular). It really comes in a nice package with the extra cables stored in a bag they supply along with some fasteners for cable management.

So far so good, it's outstanding how it performs it seems it doesn't waste any electricity. The only thing I didn't like was that the main cords are too short, so for a newbie like myself it's gonna be a bit tricky to work with.

What this little guy is working with:

AsRock Z77 Extreme4
16GB Corsair Vengeance
i5 3570K
MSI AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 Overclocked Edition PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card R7970 TF 3GD5/OC BE
250GB SSD Samsung 840 series (OS)
2TB HDD WD Caviar Black 64MB cacher @7.2K
Phantom 410 Mid tower case

I really recommend this product and if you can, try to get the Platinum editions.

PS: right now I see is going for $100, such a steal for an excellent price.
