I purchased this power supply in an attempt to reduce the jet-engine noise level on my system.

A bit of back story: My previous 550 Watt power supply, manufactured by Ultra, was a nightmare. The first one had an unacceptable/poorly manufactured fan inside of it. I argued with Ultra for days about a replacement. The whole process was a nightmare. I finally received a replacement. And though it was functioning normally, it was VERY loud. The fan would operate at full speed. The only thing my computer needed was a pair of wings, and it might have passed for a jet. It also generated an incredible amount of heat. Enough was enough...

I searched for some reviews on silent power supplies, and SeaSonic appeared on every search. Upon further searching, I found that there are some power supplies with "80 Plus" certification. Meaning that you'll get more efficiency out of your power supply. More efficiency = Less heat = Less fan noise. There are several levels of 80 Plus certification, each with increasing levels of efficiency: 80 Plus, 80 Plus Bronze, 80 Plus Silver, 80 Plus Gold, and 80 Plus Platinum.

I ultimately decided to purchase this SeaSonic 750W X750 Gold Power Supply. Excellent decision.

The packaging alone made me feel like I was going to be impressed. The embossed black and gold box made it appear sleek and elite. Upon opening, I found the power supply inside of a black velvet-like bag with gold writing on it. Cooool.

Aside from the packaging, the product itself was very easy to install in my extremely quiet Cooler Master HAF X case. This particular case positions the power supply on the bottom, rather than the top.

Purchased the SeaSonic X750 Gold in Nov/2010, for a new computer build. It was delivered within about 10 working days in excellent condition. I have used the computer every day for two months without any problems with the power supply. It is very quiet. Even when the cooling fan comes on (rarely), I cannot hear it. The power supply probably exceeds the requirements for my system but it allows for future additions. I considered less expensive makes (Corsair, Asus, other good quality) but decided to spend a little extra because of the reviews. Manual is good and comes with many more power cords than needed for a new build. All the parts seem to be excellent quality. Would purchase - from Amazon - again.
My computer specs: Cooler Master CM 690 II case, Asus P6X58D Premium Mobo, Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz CPU, Corsair Dominator 6 GB PC3-12800 1600MHz Triple Channel Core i7 DDR3 CAS 7 RAM, Two Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB Hard Drives, ASUS GTX460 1 GB Graphics Card ENGTX460, Viewsonic VX2739wm 27" Full HD LCD Monitor, Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS424-98, Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

I got this one to replace the Cooler master one I had . This is a Rock and extremely quiet. I did have to figure out the right connectors to use. This one is overkill, but that is what I like. Do it right once.

I only trust SeaSonic to power all of my new builds when clean and stable power matter the most (heavy lifting workstations or gaming machines). The first thing you will notice when opening the box is the ornate packaging. The PSU itself comes in a velvet rope bag just like a bottle of Crown Royal and the cables have a storage case for anything you don't use. You can tell the company cares about its product and thus I do not mind paying a little bit extra for that premium price tag.

Also, because their unit's are so efficient you will not hear it at all until it is at 20%>load as that is when the fan kicks in so don't be afraid if the fan isn't spinning when you first turn it on.

My only gripe for their modular units is that the cable bundles are a little bit stiff and it can make cable routing a pain in a tight case. However, the sleeving does break in over time allowing you to bend them with ease when you need to.

I would highly recommend this or any other SeaSonic unit for a new build as I've used just about their entire product line with only one RMA but that was the fault of the vendor I purchased it from and not the manufacturer.

This is a fantastic power supply backed by an extremely solid company. I love the design and the hybrid feature. Fully modular was an awesome choice as well when cable management was taken in to consideration.

It came with an assortment of goodies including cable bags made of fine material, twist ties, and extra screws.

This power supply is currently powering an Intel i5 4690k, an MSI Gtx 970 Golden Edition, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro, 1 7200RPM Hard Drive, 3 140mm Case fans, multiple USB devices and a Corsair H100i liquid cooling system.

Being gold certified this power supply will help save on your electricity bill. It also comes with a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer. These things are built pretty solid especially considering it is a Tier 1 power supply on newegg.com so you can expect nothing but the best from this product and the company that sells it.
