As noted by another reviewer, this book was written for the level of a junior high or high school reader. That disappointed me, as that fact should have been noted by Amazon in the description of content. While an interesting quick read, if you are seeking an adult level, scholarly, in-depth accounting of the Seabees in World War II, seek out another book or books, as I am now going to do.

Ooops, this is a children's book. I was hoping for a more detailed, engaging text but this is a propaganda book written during WWII. Good but I should have looked at the description better. If you are a SeaBee collector this is a maybe book but I would look for it in the original publication.

The book is very informative and interesting. My friend, who was a Seabee enjoyed it immensely.

As a retired Seabee I found this very interesting and well writen.

This history includes narrative history from individual Seabees and other participants in their story. I read this book with my Dad's itinerary through the South Pacific with a Seabee Battalion at arms length. I read the book with a sense of personal involvement and could almost feel the presence of my father. Dad never told us much about his war and I was humbled to read of the outstanding service the Seabees rendered.

Sadly the Construction Battalion of the Navy (Seabees) is not very widely known, but if anyone ever wants to know about how the Seabees were created, and their amazing accomplishments, just buy this book and it will detail everything about the Seabees during World War II. It has amazing information, and is a very engaging reading for young readers to adults. It also has a foreword by Admiral Ben Moreell, the "King Bee" a special bonus.

This is the most comprehensive book that I have found on the Seabees. So if you are a big fan of books regarding World War II, or war in general, this is a very interesting book to read.

10/10

MightyPen, out.
