Julie is an Australian children's writer based in Melbourne, Australia. A trained zoologist and zookeeper, she most enjoys writing about animal-related topics. She has published fiction and non-fiction, educational, reference and various other work.

Julie's 2011 book, "Great Barrier Reef Under Threat" (Macmillan Education Australia) received a 2011 Whitley Award Commendation in the Children's Series category, and was shortlisted for the Wilderness Society's Environment Award for Children's Literature in 2012. Her co-authored book, "Environments and Responsibility" (Pearson Australia) won an Australian Geography Teachers Award, Primary Resource section, in 2014.
