5.0 out of 5 stars A natural fit
I am writing this mostly in response to a criticism about the title. As any informed person would know, seabiscuit is the name of a shell, and has been so longer than the name of some famous racing horse. This book is a marvelous story about a pony. It showcases a lovely area of North Carolina and presents a sweet story for kids. Anyone who enjoys nature, horses or...

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated
This book was written long before the recent film put the real Seabiscuit back in the spotlight. But I still can't imagine why anyone would write a book about a wild pony and give it the same unusual name as one of the most famous horses in history--unless it's so the book will come up whenever someone searches that famous name. I'm trying to find a picture book for small...

While this isn't about the famous racehorse, as I thought it would be, it was a sweet story about a horse that my horse-crazy daughter enjoyed and I approved of. No overt messages or lessons; just a sweet story.

I'm trying to find a picture book for small children about the real Seabiscuit and it's very annoying to keep coming up with this book. It's probably a sweet story, but not when you're looking for the real deal. The author should have been more creative in naming her title character--or trusted her work to stand on its own merit.
