Horn Book"Anyone who thinks history is dull should try reading Linda Grant De Pauw's Seafaring Women, which is full of astonishing facts as well as wit and humor. . . .This is the kind of delightful book that has a joke or anecdote every page or two that you will want to share with others. --
St. Louis Post-Dispatch"The anecdotes are vivid and the language is authentically of the sea. In seamless style, the author weaves one incident into another and laces it all with her own sense of humor in history." --
The Alexandria Port Packet"When De Pauw covers a subject, she really covers it, as you would expect from a history professor. . . . What you might not expect from a writer who is also an historian is a lively writing style, but from De Pauw you get it. This book is fun to read." --
