I know you are looking at the current price and are thinking this is a great deal. Well you are absolutely correct. I actually have filled my entire External HD with movies and photographs and am planning to purchase a second, it runs quietly and it works efficiently without over heating, it is a simple plug and play device. Go for it! You know you want to buy it!

Very quiet and solid. I also have a western digital MY Book and its loud and gets real hot. The segate (which are the standard drives in both Mac and HP) is fast and quiet and doesn't get as hot as the my book. I'm very happy with it and 320gb for a hundred bucks you can't go wrong

Set up was easy - worked right out of the box.

So far, it has been dependable and easy to use.

Paid $99.99 for it, and its worth every bit! At first I was skeptical about purchasing it, believing the price to be too good to be true. The Stats compelled me to buy this however.. Western Digital was selling a 120GB hard-drive with 5200rpm at $89.99, yet this product from Seagate was 320GB with 7200rpm at just $10 more. I took the plunge and bought it.. works very well with my old computer and my laptop! I was able to save all my pictures from last 6 years within minutes on this hard drive. I believe the price has already gone up to over $150, so I'm glad I bought mine on time. My brother-in-law is regretting not buying it with me at under $100. Excellent product. I'm waiting for it to go back to under $100 so I can buy my next one and hook it up with my DVR.

I'm very impressed with Seagate 320GB USB External Hard Drive for the price and its value i got it.

I've been using this drive for at least 5 years without so much as a hiccup. I wish that all external HD's came with an on/off button. I use this drive as a secondary backup so don't need it on all the time. The ability to turn it on only when needed saves electricity as well as wear and tear on the unit itself.

Installation was as simple as it can get. Just plug in the AC adaptor and USB cable and turn on the PC. The drive was recognized instantly and just "works". It's a little "louder" than some of the newer models but loudness is a relative thing. The only time I hear it is if there is no other noise in the room and it really isn't loud at all.

Unfortunately, I was not so lucky with a Seagate Freeagent 500gb. Using it on two different PC's, it often would not be recognized or would cause boot problems. This was a simple device with no backup software to bother with and should have been a lot better than it was. It would show activity (blinking light) even when it wasn't being used. Maybe a bad controller caused the problem, but one of my PC's kept trying to boot from it for no reason at all. Once I removed it, things went back to normal. I changed absolutely no settings before this started happening. It finally quit on me yesterday (good riddance) and I'm replacing it with a WD 1.5tb as I simply do not trust the newer Seagate HD's. I would have gone with another Seagate if this model was available with greater capacity.
