I ordered this to replace a 40 gig hard drive that was getting too old, the package came one or two days earlier than the estimated delivery date and came very well packaged and with no instructions. The hard dive came un-formatted which was expected. I used clonezilla the clone it, replaced it with the old one and presto, its been working well the few weeks iv had it. The hard drive is being used in a 32bit windows xp machine.

pros: was the cheapest ide large capacity hard drive i could find on amazon at the time and was the same speed and cache as my old one. fast delivery with standard shipping.

cons: none so far

Seagate is the only manufacturer with a five-year warranty on their hard drives. This particular model is a work horse and is "built like a rock."

My first drive arrived damaged. I sent it back to the company and they sent me a "repaired" drive. It last 2 months before it too died. BEWARE! This drive is junk. You've been warned.

I bought two of these for use in a Netgear SAN. They are are typical Seagate...fast read/write and great reliability. The only downside is that they are PATA or IDE which is slower than SATA but it's the interface that works with my SAN.

to replace an old 40gb maxtor hard drive and i have to say i am very pleased with it..This is a very quiet drive compared to some other drives ive owned and is also very fast..

Bottom line i would recommend this drive to any one who is looking to upgrade
