mine works fine,

This review is from: Seagate ST3750640AS Barracuda 750 GB SATA 3.0GB/s Internal Hard Drive (Personal Computers)
I've had my Seagate ST3750640AS for one year now and it has done a great job. The drive is very fast and responsive.
The only minor complaint I would have is that it did cause my computer to vibrate a bit when spinning up. I just put a piece of plywood under my computer so it didn't sit on the carpet and all was well. I don't know what the other complaints are about. I researched the drive before buying and it had really good benchmarks. Granted, it had just come out when I purchased it though. Perhaps he got a bum unit or bought one from a bum vendor. Mine's been good to me! UPDATE: 3 years later and the drive is still running well. I often create/delete large video files and it has never given me a problem. fyi, it is used in a Mac Pro.

What is it with Seagate and flaky drives?,
This review is from: Seagate ST3750640AS Barracuda 750 GB SATA 3.0GB/s Internal Hard Drive (Personal Computers)
Here's the deal: I have been building computers since the early 80's. I even built the first file server in my University department as a grad student. That server ran for twelve years before being retired. In 30 years I have had three hard drives go bad. One was an old Western Digital drive that died in the mid 90's after running for over 6 years in two different machines. The other two bad drives were in the last year. One was a Maxtor, sold by Seagate oddly I have two pre-Seagate Maxtors in a RAID array and they are clipping along nicely). The other was the drive in this advertizement. I have Hitachi's, and Western Digitals running in 3 media centers and two desktops. All are older than the two bad Seagates and all are still performing flawlessly. For the China bashers, get a life and look at the drives you are recommending. Hitachi, WD and IBM all import their drives from China. I suspect they are not alone. And before you start, I am not of Asian descent.

Works as advertised,

Works as advertised. Plug-N-Play installation (after purchase of a SATA cable). Used this drive to clone my existing hard drive (it is the identical model in my HP) for backup purposes.
