From Booklist
K-Gr. 3. Similar in format and approach to George's Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish (2001), this volume spotlights seahorses. A typical double-page spread has a sentence or a couple of paragraphs discussing some aspect of seahorse anatomy or behavior, illustrated by one or two color photos of the animals in the wild. Scientific as well as English names for individual species are used to identify animals in the pictures. Some of the photographs are simply quite beautiful. Others stand out for their subjects--three varieties camouflaged in different undersea environments or a male seahorse giving birth. The text is well cadenced and informative, though occasionally more poetic than precise. Even so, children will find this a visually stimulating introduction to some truly unique creatures.
