There is a Wind from the album A Chorus of Storytellers

Biography

A 10-year anniversary is a time to reflect. In a relationship, it's a chance to recount the first date; to remember the awkward pauses and the eventual connection. For musicians, a 10-year anniversary is a time to look back on their first album and see how far they've come from those earliest recordings. The new Album Leaf album A Chorus of Storytellers, marks the first decade for the group led by… Read more in Amazon's The Album Leaf Store

Editorial Reviews

Originally released in Spain in 2003, this very special version of The Album Leaf’s Seal Beach EP is finally released in the United States! The Seal Beach EP on Better Looking features four songs from the original EP, plus "For Jonathan," which replaces an original. In addition, Jimmy LaValle has handpicked five live performances from his tour with Sigur Ros, included as bonus tracks – and it’s all wrapped up in a beautiful digipack. The Album Leaf is Jimmy LaValle, a classically trained, prolific pianist and musician whose ambitious projects have involved San Diego’s seminal ambient post-rock outfit Tristeza, noise punks The Locust and the gloomy, brooding epic-core Black Heart Procession. This special domestic release of the Seal Beach EP follows the recent success of The Album Leaf’s critically acclaimed full-length In a Safe Place on Sub Pop Records.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavenly, July 14, 2005
This review is from: Seal Beach Ep (Audio CD)
I love this cd. The tracks are beautiful. The live version of Essex is amazing, and was the main reason I purchased this. But everything on here is just beautiful. Total mood music. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars good vibrations, January 30, 2011

good, good, good, good vibrations. soft & subtle sounds. not boring, just soothing. the music can be likened to that of wind chimes, in that the tones repeat, sometimes randomly, sometimes in organized patterns, but that's not a slam. who doesn't like wind chimes? you won't hear these compositions played during an NCAA basketball timeout or during the SuperBowl halftime show, but that's not their place. it's really nice rhythmic, ambient music and - bop, bop, excitation - in that context.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, relaxing CD, September 13, 2005
This review is from: Seal Beach Ep (Audio CD)
This is my first experience with The Album Leaf after hearing the title track on the Echoes radio program.

Wonderful, peaceful, relaxing music. I'll definitely be buying more of their work.

I can't recommend this CD enough.
